17.11.2011 22:20, Mantispid: comment on Need photos

Good evening! The bottom line is this. I know that many people here have perfect expensive photo equipment, so I appeal to anyone who can help:I need photos of weevils and their body parts for my interactive identification of weevils in the Saratov region. Which ones can be viewed in the search engine itself at: http://coleop123.narod.ru/key/opredslon/opred_slon.htmlI want to gradually fill in ...

13.11.2011 11:57, introvert: comment on Pieris (napi - bryoniae) complex: current status of the taxon

it would be better if you captured the whole gamut of transitions from briony to napi. I once scored 2 boxes from one place-in the north of Nizhny Novgorod region - in one meadow I did so, with all the dope, I collect all transitions (forms) and generations. By the way, I get a certain buzz. Great in small)))))

09.11.2011 17:10, niyaz: comment on Large collection of butterflies

There is not enough information about the number of species and the number of instances. If I had a large collection, I would sell butterflies caught in Germany on American or Australian forums, where the demand for it will be higher than here. There is a reason to sell by the piece.

07.11.2011 19:10, Peter Khramov: comment on Micro and macrophotography

A more adequate analogy: I'll take the usual macro 2.8, set it to infinity, and remove it. Then I'll screw on the rings, focus the lens to the minimum distance, and shoot again. And there, and there everything is OK (except for the cases I described earlier).

06.11.2011 14:48, Zlopastnyi Brandashmyg: comment on How reliably we can determine if the species of an insect being sold is right

So your birmanica was recently described - you can take the description and try to look at the original source.

The color of hind wings can vary much from very light to dark grey, and females are colored even darker. I didn't boil females. leuconota is not a synonym to latesco, just before these moths from Ukraine were named such. Now the puzzling thig is what's actually in Ukraine? latesco and/or trisignata. :)
