I wanted to arrange them carefully, but Oleg Nikolaevich said that it was not necessary.
I think we should start first with the box and then arrange the beetles there beautifully!

05.02.2009 22:47, RippeR

maybe.. Well, if he doesn't want to, it's his right..

05.02.2009 23:04, Liparus

Liparus well done!! Powerful!

ps Where do you get the boxes?

There was a time in the fall of 2008.Only 8 boxes made...but this is for now smile.gif
In the summer I plan a locker smile.gif

05.02.2009 23:07, Liparus

Yes, the collection of bonuses is cool!!!
Epaulettes are also cool, it's a pity that Vespid is not present!

well, for two 2006 and 2007 years, all the butterflies and wasps themselves do not catch, the more I pricked on the wires because of the shortage of pins eek.gif

06.02.2009 1:29, RippeR

I didn't catch all of them, but what I saw is impressive!
ps pins need to be bought urgently weep.gifI wanted to order from the Czech Republic, but in that place you can't send them by Western Union-it's a pity to spend the extra 50 euros for shipment frown.gif

Here are the carabuses really not mine, but still cool!

Do we feel sorry for beetles? Are they spread out in the wrong way, are they not standing in straight rows, does the box breathe freely? We can see this, but not how one of the most famous entomologists lives. And many of us took the time to visit the old man, bring a small gift, and talk about the past. It's hard to fork out for a decent box, let's get poorer? We can shake the air with righteous anger after the departure of another bison, about the ugly attitude towards it in the last years of life? And before that, no one sees anything. Dear Bugslov, thank you so much for finding time, unlike us, who are very busy.

Oleg Nikolaevich Kabakov is widely known not only among specialists in coleoptera, but also among entomologists of other specialties. This fame was earned by his unique abilities as an insect collector. O. N.'s research interests lie in the taxonomy and ecology of several beetle families, but he tirelessly and professionally collected during his expeditions not only absolutely all beetles, but also insects of other orders. These collections were conducted for more than 40 years in all the places where he was thrown by the fate of a geologist - in Transbaikalia and the Far East of the USSR, in China, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Laos. O. N. not only collected insects, but also studied them in nature: distribution by stations and landscapes from the shores of the seas to the highlands, from taiga to tropical forests. After each trip, O. N. generously shared his fees with all interested specialists. The results of this work are more than impressive : more than 350 new species and 10 genera of beetles, as well as dozens of species of cockroaches, bats, crickets, wasps, and other insects have been described from the collections of O. N.. More than 60 species of beetles from different families are named after Oleg Nikolaevich. Last name O. N. It was also immortalized twice in the generic names of beetles: Kabakovia Kirejtshuk, 1979 (Nitidulidae) and Kabakoviella Kaszab, 1980 (Tenebrionidae).

From the specimens left to himself, O. N. compiled a huge collection of beetles (more than 16 thousand species), which he bequeathed to the Zoological Institute. O. N.'s own scientific studies in coleoptera allowed him to independently describe more than 60 new species of dung beetles (Scarabaeidae: Onthophagus, Copris), 5 species and 2 genera of tarsiers (Brenthidae), and one species of barbel (Cerambycidae). To be able to describe new species, he had to study the existing literature - Russian, English, German, French, Italian and other languages.

O. N.'s professional level in the field of entomology is evidenced by the volume "Fauna of Russia" prepared by him for publication-Lamellidae, subfamily Scarabaeinae (300 pages of typescript, more than 400 drawings, including total ones).

No less sensational is O. N.'s work in the field of geology. After graduating only from high school and geologists ' courses at VSEGEI and LSU, O. N. became one of the leading specialists in the search for ore deposits and finished his career as a senior researcher, a knight of the Order of Lenin and other orders, and a laureate of the Lenin Prize. You can read more about this aspect of O. N.'s life in the article "Geologist Kabakov is still a beetle!" published in the newspaper "Petersburg-Express" and posted on our website. A. Lobanov, 1999

Yakovlev, Alexanor, great!!!!

08.02.2009 0:08, Victor Titov

So it is. But!
Oleg Nikolaevich at a very advanced age! He can't see very well, which is why he placed the beetles so carelessly! Not to mention keeping track of the leatherheads! In addition, the boxes are old - leaky! And there is no one else to take care of the collection! He can be forgiven for that! I saw his collection before he gave it to ZIN, it was a neat and well-organized collection. And don't say "cemetery" ,"barbarism" and all that!

But what questions can there be to Oleg Nikolaevich?! Only admiration for him, admiration for his merits and works. Of course, I don't know all the circumstances, but I just meant that someone, if this is acceptable for certain reasons, should take patronage over the collection, help an elderly, respected and well-deserved person to preserve it (of course, if they themselves agree to such help). That's all. I think that the people who expressed themselves here very emotionally ("cemetery", "barbarism", etc.), addressed their emotions not to Oleg Nikolaevich (God forbid!), but to people who are nearby and should try to help save the fees. Although, I fully agree with the opinion already expressed here: this is not the main thing, but the attitude to the person.

I think the messages were sent to the collection. But the point is quite different - we didn't know the whole situation, as well as the author of the collection. Now, of course, everything is clear, and it is very sad that this happens frown.gifIf I lived in St. Petersburg, I would try to help myself.

they write about her that she meets in western Ukraine.. Probably somewhere in the Carpathians? Maybe it is also possible for us? For example, in the northwest?

But I wonder what limits its spread to the east? It flies in late European autumn... Food plants are quite common in central Russia, and even more so in the south. Is the development cycle too long? Or are the winters too cold?

I won't guess :P

mikee:
I don't know.. This is the case with all views.. Here everyone's range ends abruptly somewhere and it's not clear why.. Not counting of course any non-flying and mountain views. Why this is so is a mystery.. Why some species are very local, although there are plenty of suitable places..
