11.10. Calliteara pudibunda
(Linnaeus, 1758) 2014 Ivanovo region, Shuisky district, Krasnoarmeyskoye village, garden plot No. 34, on light

Pay attention to the date of capture - October 11. What prompted this butterfly to arrive at such an atypical time for this species is unclear. Usually this species is caught in my area in late May-early June.

I also came across the autumn summer of the Calliteara moth, but using the example of the Spruce Woolly - footed Calliteara abietis Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775
, a single male arrived noticeably smaller in size than its counterparts flying in June.

First female female from Java-male Lymantria (Porthetria) narindra (Moore, 1859)
Second (from Borneo) - female Nygmia guttulata (Snellen, 1886)

Thank you so much for your help. Do you have any ideas about the third one? At least Rod...

Here are some more waves from Indonesia. I ask for help in determining.

There are very few recent works on the fauna of the Sulawesi and Java waves, so most specimens can only be identified up to the genus (moreover, genera such as "Euroctis" and Arctornis include hundreds of species and are very poorly studied).
1. Female Salliteara sp.
2. «Euproctis» sp.
3. Male Salliteara horsfieldii sp. group
4. If small, then Orgyia sp., and if more than two centimeters, then Dasychira sp.
5, 6, 9, 10 Arctornis spp.
7. Male "Euproctis" sp.
8. Male Carriola saturnioides (Snellen, 1879)
12. Male Lymantria (Porthetria) buruensis celebesa (Collenette, 1947)
13.Male Lymantria (Porthetria) lunata curvifera (Shintlmeister, 2004) In 2007, the Americans brought all the subspecies of L. lunata described by Shintlmeister into synonyms. In addition, the status of the curvifera subspecies is the most complex (both the Philippine populations and the population from Sulawesi were assigned to it). So this male can be signed simply as Lymantria (Porthetria) lunata (Stoll, 1782) .

If you are talking about Arctornis l-nigrum, then you may want to try other tree varieties such as linden, oak, and willow.

From September 1 to September 16, 2015, 9 butterflies of the pink unpaired silkworm were born. Probably, this is a subspecies of Lymantria (Nyctria) mathura aurora (Butler, 1877), because in males the hindwings are not bright yellow, but darker than in southern butterflies? I mean the middle row - female, males of dark and light shape. Sakhalin, southern outskirts of Kholmsk. It would be interesting to look at the subspecies from Japan L dispar fumida Btl., which is located close to Sakhalin. How does it differ from ours? Thank you very much chebur for this kind of butterfly.

There are no subspecies there. This is generally a dirty word. As long as there is no evidence - a working version that the species began colonization of Sakhalin from Hokkaido (the winds you had there were notable), and the appearance depends on climatic conditions.

Indeed, on a Japanese site http://www.jpmoth.org/Lymantriidae/Lymantr...hura_aurora.htm I found only Lymantria mathura aurora. Butterflies from Okinawa, Toyama, Saitama Hanno Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, Kumamoto Prefecture, Fukuoka-all this is far from Sakhalin. Only Sapporo in Hokkaido. The males are similar to mine. Or from Hokkaido, or from the south of Primorye brought. How can such heavy butterflies fly so far?

Or from Hokkaido, or from the south of Primorye brought.

If artificially - then it's just a cart ahead of the horse.

Matura is actively expanding its range in quite natural ways, so I don't see any point in creating extra entities.

Thank you very much! Yes, except for Gynaephora - what else. But I'm not good with views. A couple of people were very interested in this genus, maybe it's not so simple with the species. There are also rossi, and their ranges and synonymy are not known to me. But, the author will get away with it, if lugens are found there and quite valid. A.V. Sviridov defined specimens from Chukotka as rossi (from my memory), and the caterpillars are there without yellow tufts of bristles.

The history of the description and location of this species can be found at the link below.
This is an article by V. V. Dubatolov.
Apparently, our Russian butterflies belong to the species
Gynaephora relictus.

Note: the gus. that I tried to raise from a bred female from V. Sayan (this is mentioned in the article) also did not have yellow tufts on their backs. Of course, there were bunches, but not the same yellow color as in the presented photo.

There is a definition of Dr Ugo Dall'Asta on the internet. As far as I know, this is now the most authoritative expert on afrotropical waves.

So we get Mpanjaka (Dasychira) gentilis (Butler, 1879).
