Hello, Nikolay!
the other day, by chance (at work) I came across pheromone traps and in particular on volnyanok http://www.biotech-system.com.ua/ru/produc...heromone-traps/
have you ever used pheromones? Will our orgies fly on a pheromone for Orgyia pseudotsugata?

26.03.2016 8:56, СамПавел

I have been working with Biotech Systems for 4 years. Pheromone traps are excellent, did not fail. So with Orgyia pseudotsugata, I think it's worth a try. Although not fact

Good afternoon! can someone help with the definition of butterflies in post #717?

26.03.2016 18:57, chebur

Good afternoon! Please help me with the definition.

1. Tajikistan, Fan Mountains, Alps. Artuch camp, 29.06.1997 h=2150m
picture: 01.jpeg

2. Sakhalin, G. Chekhov, VI. 1995
picture: 02.jpeg

3. Primorye, Lazo village, 06.08.1980
picture: 03.jpeg

1. What is the correct name for your first view from Tajikistan, so far, I can't say. There are several taxa described from this region.
Your specimen most closely resembles the "Dasychira" fascelina salangi Ebert, 1968 described from Afghanistan. The status of this taxon is unclear.
2. For Sakhalin, as far as I know, neither of the two species of the genus Leucoma has yet been cited. Are you sure about this label?
Most likely, you have in the photo a male Leucoma candida Staudinger, 1892. Look at it on a dark background. If it doesn't show through, then you have this view.
3. Female Artaxa subflava Bremer, 1864.

I didn't use pheromones. But I have a few males of high-mountain volnyanki from Orgyia (Clethrogyna) dubia sp. complex, which were caught accidentally while collecting glass jars using pheromones.
Whether our orgies will fly to pheromones for Orgyia pseudotsugata, probably, can only be found out by experience.

A little bit from the life of Gynaephora fascelina.
Early-aged caterpillars were collected in Lishnyagi (Serebryano-Prudsky district, Moscow Region) at the end of April this year, on a broom tree. Later they were safely transplanted to a willow tree.
The first butterflies started coming out on June 1-2.
