Dichagyris signifera - not bad. We don't get it very often.

30.06.2009 10:58, Bad Den

Could it be the female Bolbelasmus unicornis in the last picture?

That's right!

Every year they arrive only once ,this year it is the second exe from this location

Bolbelasmus is a really good year!!!
And also a cicada - Ledra aurita, also a rarity and the largest of our cicadas!

30.06.2009 14:27, Aaata

That's right!

Bad Den, have you ever met Bolbelasmus in the Nizhny Novgorod region?(post 3201 is mine)

30.06.2009 16:41, svm2

Bolbelasmus is a really good year!!!
And also a cicada - Ledra aurita, also a rarity and the largest of our cicadas!

There were also about a dozen of them , and I found one of them interesting. The size is about one and a half centimeters. And the Carabid flew hundreds(but I don't know the species composition), until I shook out about a dozen of them, I couldn't sleep.

if there are still ledras and balbelasmuses - take them all!

30.06.2009 18:59, Трофим

How rare it is (bolbelasmus). In May, I found a bit of something crushed on my street. But in general, the copy for the collection came out quite good.

It's a good thing Damien doesn't hear about the Bolbelasmuses - he's been making terrible jokes about them for a long time. smile.gif

TROFIM:
if this is definitely bolbelasmus, and you did not confuse it with the brown female Odonteus, then congratulations on the second find in the republic (if we take official data)

A friend of mine caught such a cicada in May in the Carpathians ,it is not less than 1.5 cm, right?

Yeah, that's right. Oaks love

It was a beautiful day!
Inspired by the reports of Wise snake, I figured out the bait - a liter of beer, cherry dumplings, a few raspberries, sugar, yeast. During the night, everything fermented and I went to the forest.
Hours from 10-11 to one hung gauze soaked in potion. Unfortunately, apart from a couple of deer, a dozen fieberi and lugubris, egeria and other nonsense, no one arrived. But during the actions, I caught Akimerus in flight, about 6 Strangalia aurulenta, some kind of ribbon, like sponsors or something..

Even when I was just entering the forest community, I caught a bug in flight, and it turned out to be Exocentrus adspersus. At the end of the hike on a log found lusitanus. smile.gif

The second generation of Morimuses has gone. I saw a tree, already dry. And I thought maybe it would fit, although it's unlikely that there will be anything on it. Although usually on such morimuses sit, so I approached. And yes. Morimus is sitting there, and I put him on a needle and put him in a jar. I look further. And then I freeze, my throat instantly dries up, my thoughts are just like "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee", my hands start shaking like an electric shock. and then I think: carefully, you can do it, calmly. And I grab this animal, yes! My hands are shaking like hell, my eyes are popping out of my head, I know I've got it! But I can't prick it, because it's easier to hit the leg than the joint. But somehow it still works! And then I think: finally, a childhood dream, one of the rarest sawyers in Moldova. A rush of joy. After that, I walked around the forest in a vigorous state smile.gif
An hour later, I decided to check the tree again, and then, female, e-mae! My hands are shaking again, but less so. Here I went so went......

Hesperidae:
Pyrgus alveus
Heteropterus morpheus
- - -
super thickheads,I never met them in nature, maybe because we don't have them
The first one is definitely there. The second one-judging by the old information, it may have been met once, but now it's probably not...

Liparus:
Egzocentrus doesn't seem to be considered rare. Lusitanuses are generally quite common, the main thing is to find the right oak or hornbeam logs (preferably not of large diameter) and there you can find a lot. Adspersus sometimes fly to the light, just fly ^^ and mow down. Probably sitting on twigs of some kind.

But stierlini, I think, is a bit rare. The same goes for punctipenis, but it doesn't seem to be frequent.

Thickheads: it is quite possible to catch alveus somewhere from the middle to the end of May.
I saw an old copy of Morpheus in Odessa. Caught somewhere not far away. You can fly. need to search )

Brief photo chronicles for June 2009.

07.06.2009 Targeted departure to the vicinity of the village of Shelyugi, Akim.Zap region, where
three specimens were caught in 2007. ascalafa.
And so… The first specimen caught in 2009. jump.gif "almost Rosalia.
In general, this year, there were a lot of them.

1_IMG_7509_ik_komb.jpg

At the moment, there are oral reports of the discovery of askalaf on the coast
of the Sea of Azov in the district of S.Stepanovka, on the coast of the Molochny Estuary and
on Chongar.

2_IMG_7460_ik_kombi.jpg

10.06.2009г. Departure to the "ambush", in the village of Troitskoe, Melit. district.
Good move. Various. Including two copies. melanura.
Two worn copies also arrived. Leghorn hawk moth.
I haven't been caught in the last two seasons.

3_IMG_4689_ik_komb.jpg

By the way, the 12th view of hawk moth from this point.

4_IMG_4678__ik.jpg

At dawn, I explored the surrounding area.
And...! Another joy. jump.gif Many, many caterpillars
of the polyxena butterfly, which was not previously recorded in the area.
Very southern point for polyxena.

5_IMG_4980_m_ik.jpg

Then I looked at the population of rimnus, discovered
the year before last. Everything is fine.
(When photographing a copulating pair of rimnuses,
categorically refused to work, hooked up batteries. frown.gif )

6_IMG_5025_ik.jpg

Then I went to the place where I collected brachs for the last two seasons
- brachycerus sinuatus. It's a little late – I collected only three "crackers".

7_IMG_6629_ik.jpg

13-15. 06. 2009 Departure to the Dnieper river, in the district of S. Yasinovatoe. Three days, but four nights.

8_IMG_5629_ik.jpg

From the desired-plum cocoonworm.
I was pleased with six copies.

9_IMG_5982_ik.jpg

One of the days was almost entirely devoted to catching half-breeds.
The baits didn't work. Mestizos sat high in the trees.
I had to extend the handle of the net.

10_IMG_6077_ik.jpg

A couple of stills from a mestizo fishing video.

picture: 11_MVI_6069_0002_ik_komb.jpg

9 specimens were caught.
Among them, the female jump.gifis almost Rosalia.
Caught with an elongated net.

A couple of staged shots.

A small photo report about a two-day hike in the forest.
There were a lot of Carabus and niggers smile.gif.
I really wanted to catch some" non-banal flower " barbels, but alas, the bait from fermented jam, except for wasps, butterflies and a couple of deer, did not attract anyone else frown.gif

And today we saw a steppe dybka, and even seemed to hear the trills of a steppe fat man early in the morning, but we didn't look for it, we had to go further( crossed out: otherwise we wouldn't have found it and all our dreams would have been destroyed smile.gif)
We also met a distinctly Apulian tarantula-approx. 4 cm long on the body, Agdiore lobata and some other unusual argiopa, a very large variety of grasshoppers, but there were very few butterflies. Personally, for me, an almost nine-hour walk at 26-31C in the steppe ended with a slight heat stroke smile.gif

2.07.09 went with a friend to catch the light in the region, Zmievsky district, S. Mokhnach.Males of the cocoonworm D. pini and scoops Xestia ashwortii candelarum Stgr (about 5-6 specimens) from the catch in the pine tree were pleased. Then we went to shine on an oak tree and at 2.20 am a male Marumba quercus arrived. At the same place on 22.06.09 at 3 o'clock in the morning(or even at night), a female of this hawk moth was caught-as much as 115 mm in wingspan!
It is interesting that of all the finds in eastern Ukraine, the Zmievsky district of the Kharkiv region is the northernmost border of the M. querqus range, although I do not rule out that it may also enter the neighboring Belgorod region of the Russian Federation through oak forests stretching to the north. You just need to have a lot of patience to shine all night until three-the beginning of the fourth-the time of summer of these interesting hawk moth ...
P.S. A question for barko and other specialists in scoops: how rare is the X. ashwortii species in general, or not ?
