12.09.09 Kiev region, Desna River, near the village of Dubechnya (N50°42 '44’, E030°41' 53’), from 20-00 to 06-00, DRV 250 lamp and 8 watt UVL.
The evening is warm, but until the morning the temperature dropped to +12. The goal is autumn butterflies, but the years are weak and mostly ragged summer. Icteritia and c-nigrum predominated among scoops (where without it) in 15 specimens each, and dimidiata and comae predominated among moths.

The weather didn't help , but I really wanted to-we went to the Kiev polesie in the Black Grouse area (Milkovo tract N50°45’29’,E029°29’15’). At 19-00, the lamps were turned on, +13, scoops seemed to fly a little-helvola, macilenta, rubiginea, shabby satura, fraxini, nok 21-00 the moon rose and the temperature dropped to +7, except for Epirrita autumnata, nothing flew, so at 22-00 we gathered and left for Kiev, in some lowlands in the forest the thermometer is in the car it showed +3.
So all that arrived were 5 types of scoops, one of them is a moth (but a lot), another hornet, a larger geotrup, and a couple of diptera.
I spread out the female helvola, macilenta, and a couple of colorful epiriths to make the trip worthwhile. A week ago, dilutats were caught near Kiev , and here-otumnats(the distance is about 100 km).
I hope the season is not closed yet, last year 01.11 on the Bukrine there was a very good year

Kiev area, near Kruglyk, 09.10.09 (N50°19 '02’, E030°25' 46’), from 18-30 to 23-00, quite comfortable temperature of 20 at the beginning, 18 at the end. Dull.something is trying to drizzle, +17 at the beginning, +12 at the end. Years are very, very old, but the set of species is naturally not very diverse . The goal was-plumigera, poplar cocoonworm, sphinx scoop and colorful defoliaries.

That's all macro, several types of leaf-twisters, a couple of types of fireflies (like), at least two types of bedbugs, eardrums, some flies and crawled on duty karabus-convexus (definition of Gerasimov's colleague).

07.11.09. I really don't want to finish the season, after the frosts we decided to go to the area of V. Bukrina , and suddenly something interesting . Lamps 3DRV 250. From 17-00 to 20-00. Strong wind, I had to go into the forest and stand on the edge of the ravine. Plus 14 at the beginning, 12 at the end.Clearly
Our "suddenly" was justified, the years for this time are not bad. A lot of webs and diptera, 10 micro species that I. Kostyuk collected for colleagues, a couple of species of bedbugs, beetles, unfortunately only the usual ladybug, well, macro

1-P. populi-9ex. two of them are good females

I. Kostyuk raised a map of its distribution in Ukraine( at the moment), while it was marked in the Crimea and a couple of points in the West (Lviv region),so we can not say that the butterfly is common in our country.

Today I went to the region again to harvest trees, branches and twigs, so that when it gets warmer I can catch beetles.
5) Trembling poplar, or aspen-Populus tremula L.

maybe nothing poplar and elm...maybe nothing will crawl on them?

Well, why not? We can collect Aegomorphus(s) and Xylotrechus(s) in bulk on fallen aspens. And on poplar decks (actually poplar, not aspen), in addition to these barbels, I collected humpback spines (Tomoxia biguttata), griboedov (Mycetophagus multipunctatus, M. piceus, M. tschitscherini), as well as Tritoma bipustulata, Bitoma crenata, Cerylon sp., Silvanus sp... Once even caught Upis ceramboides and Agrilus betuleti.

On aspen, in addition to the above-mentioned ones, you can still collect: barbels Saperda perforata and karapuzikov Hololepta plana (under the bark).
P.S. I brought it "in a hurry", but this is a very productive tree for beetles.

A small expedition to the vicinity of the village of Kamenskoye on the Azov Sea. Structure: Y. I. Budashkin, N. Kaigorodova and I. smile.gifThe goal is to search for the moth Ithysia pravata, which is still known within Ukraine only from a few finds.
The weather is overcast, around +10. We examined several sections of stony steppe along the coast. In many places, the steppe is pitted with quarries, in some places small gullies descend to the sea.
The following species were encountered:
Vanessa atalanta
Colias crocea
Autographa gamma
Udea ferrugalis
Nomophila noctuella
Deuterotinea casanella
Plutella xylostella
And finally, in the last examined area, two males of Ithysia pravata were found at once! jump.gif jump.gif jump.gif

November 18th. Coast east of Feodosia, steppe. Weather - sunny, temperature within +10 ...+20, calm. Many flies, golden-eyes, dragonflies, dung beetles Aphodius luridus(?), and fillies are flying and enjoying life. From Lepidoptera there are all the same banal Vanessa atalanta, Colias crocea, Autographa gamma, Udea ferrugalis, Nomophila noctuella, Plutella xylostella. And, quite surprisingly, here, in the middle of the sprawling steppes, the freshest male Agriopis budashkini Kostjuk 2009 is found on a wormwood bush.
