Fishing report.
December 24, steppe east of Feodosia, Kamyshinsky Meadow tract.
Sunny, +11, wind about 5-6 m/s. In a fairly large (for December) quantity, the dandelion medicinal plant blooms and bears fruit. Within a few hours of the tour, we managed to find three species of scoop caterpillars (including several Xestia trifida), one mikra caterpillar, a cow, a small ground beetle, large barbel larvae in thistle stalks, a bee, bedbugs, two types of flies, as well as cicadas, spiders, haymakers, vipers and various tiny jumping and crawling insects a small change.

Of course, we looked smile.gifat the first photo at the very bottom. Did you purposefully search for Trifida or was it accidentally caught in the lens?

I had a similar case this spring. I took a picture of irises in the dark and already at home on the monitor I saw two caterpillars of scoops that accidentally fell into the frame. True, this is just Xestia c-nigrum.

I noticed it when I was photographing dandelion.
As for the search, I wanted to find anything but her. Our trifida is one of the most common scoops, like a caterpillar or a butterfly.

In your report, it was nice to see places that are familiar to me, even though I live 1.5 thousand km away from you.The last time I was there was in August last year.Approximately in those days when the 3rd congress of the forum was held, to the left of the army locators (white "balls" in the photo ),the slope burned, reaching almost to the military unit.At the same time, I was catching from the opposite side of the locators and watching the "smoke front"coming at me.And forumchane drunk and changed at the congress.
Here are such vital interweavings... And in June, there is a riot of insect life in your places!

Was it just my imagination, or are there sometimes more than one instance of some kind in each box?
If it's not, then I'm not paying attention smile.gif
If this is so, then I want to understand for myself why this is done, why it is impossible to represent 1 individual of each species, if the species does not have sexual dimorphism? confused.gif

I didn't think so.
I used to put 1-2 beetles each, until I realized (after I was told and saw it myself) that each species has differences, there is variability. To work with some species, 1 beetle is not enough, since even fairly stable species are variable. To understand the situation with the view and how it looks, how it differs from others, in any case, you need a series.
And even more so, how to write an article or identify stable signs, and at the same time write in the article - 2 specimens from the collection were examined? 0_o
At the same time, the populations do not suffer, the beetles are not offendedsmile.gif, so you need to use this..

Well, actually, in a serious collection (even an amateur one), views are mounted and presented as a series if possible. There are many reasons for this - individual variability, collecting instances of the same species from different locations, and more and more... But I don't think it's appropriate to discuss this issue here. If you have a desire - then you are here http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtop...50&#entry994202

Several copies may be in the collection for different reasons (different points, "series" , etc.). And in the end, just "in reserve". I now regret that I absolutely do not have an exchange fund (on the forum recently and therefore did not take care at the time). weep.gifI will make up for my regrets (when the season starts) smile.gif

In the Yaroslavl region, I personally know three locations where it was reliably collected (two of them by me personally) Oberea pupillata. By the way, according to my observations, it is easier to find it in settlements on honeysuckle, from the end of May (in the "warm" year) and in June, and it comes across quite massively, if there is any. Elizar and I collected it on honeysuckle in the center of Yaroslavl, in my native Rostov...

Thanks! There is a honeysuckle landing there (along the railway platform). I was waiting for an electric train, and along the way I picked it up. I'll go there this year and take a look (already purposefully).

Ripper, high-quality, beautiful, healthy, with a soul.Zdorovskaya collection-bugs class.
Rhozalia alpina in Lagodekhi (Georgia) quite a lot-I'm not a bug hunter-was there in 1987.At first, the first specimen was found-a crushed female on a tourist trail-tourists in the USSR were taken for a walk near the city. The kid was still-I met there with the residents of St. Petersburg-an expedition from ZIN for moths. They caught the light-I hung out with them at night. They were engaged in Microlepidoptera-I snatched a big one from under the lamp. But krupnyaka almost nebylo-brazhnikov suellus then caught the first time.

Of course, there are photos. Why restore it? Have they been removed? I think it doesn't make much sense to restore it - rarely anyone looks into the distance, but if there is an interest in some photos, then no problem )

22.01.2010 13:49, Egorus

They (photos) were not removed. Just during that period, Molbiol failed, and then moved.
Today, everything has stabilized. Sometimes you need to review the old in order to
plan a new one. So give me half an hour...

February 21, 2010, neighborhood of Feodosia, Tepe-Oba.
I decided to take a walk, check how Lycia zonaria is doing , look for Cryphia raptricula caterpillars, and also conduct sea trials of the macro lens I recently purchased.
The weather for the second half of February is quite cold: +11, overcast, wind about 7 m / s-there are few animals.
Adults were found: Lycia zonaria, Plutella xylostella, Emmelina monodactyla.
Caterpillars: Cryphia raptricula, Cryphia muralis, Cryphia ?algae, Aporophyla sp., Amata nigricornis.
In addition: flies, spiders, ticks, haymakers, cicadas, small staphylins, small strange beetle, horsemen, wingless female sawfly Dolerus ciliatus, ants, mollusks, hare, fox.
