Thanks! But in my opinion, these two flies are different. They are differently colored, one has a red belly, the chest is black, the second has the opposite, and another has eyes together, the second is divided. shuffle.gif

Coastal coastal cliffs to the east of Feodosia and the adjacent steppe. Warm, sunny, quiet, the sea is noisy-grace! But there are practically no animals. Well, at least I got some sun...

That's right-males have their eyes "together", females have "separate" eyes....

Yes, it is most likely Cheilosia grossa (Fallen 1817). Female (2009) and male (2010). If it were a different region, I would hesitate to identify it from the photo, but I know the Crimean sirfid fauna well - only grossa has such a look...

Today was a very special day for me. Three events coincided – good weather, I don't have to go to school, and I don't have to go to work. This is my first time doing this this year! I arrived at the train station, got on the Simferopol-Alushta trolleybus at 6: 50' and dozed off for an hour... The hike started from the Angarsk Pass (8: 00’). The goal is to "storm" Chatyrdag from the eastern slope. Snowdrops are growing everywhere
P1120130.JPG
Almost immediately I came across a flock (20 pieces) of loud and restless jays (Garrulus glandarius). Crimean jays are classified as an endemic subspecies-G. g. iphigenia.
picture: P1120140.JPG
Usually I go on the trail, but today I decided to go up "straight ahead". From time to time there were paths along the way, and on the side of one of them I noticed a tree with strange markings:
picture: P1120148.JPG
Almost every ravine has a different stream volume, all of which drain into the Angara River, which then flows into the Salgir River.
P1120150.JPG
The climb was quite long due to the steep slope covered with snow. Sometimes I had to crawl on all fours. At about 11 o'clock I reached the upper plateau of Chatyrdag.
P1120155.JPG
I was very surprised when Aglais urticae flew out from under my feet! It's a pity, but I didn't manage to take a picture of her… A northern visitor, Buteo lagopus, circled overhead:
picture: P1120159.JPG
It is also called a shaggy-legged Buzzard. The wingspan of this bird is approximately 130 cm. Her homeland is Tundra. There zimnyak is the first enemy of lemmings. In the middle latitudes, it is found on flight and wintering grounds. As I descend to the lower plateau among the dry grass of last year I notice a spider:
picture: P1120198.JPG
Most of the anthills are still not showing signs of life, but one of them still decided to stop wintering – less than a dozen ants were crawling on its surface. Here is one of them:
picture: P1120212.JPG
Everywhere there are lots of loners and glades of some flowers. If I'm not mistaken, this is Crimean Saffron (Crocus tauricus). If anything, please correct it. Thank you in advance!
P1120231.JPG
The sun that appears periodically doesn't show up for a long time. It was getting chilly. After walking along the lower plateau for some distance, I take a picture of the snow-covered upper plateau of Chatyrdag.
picture: P1120239.JPG
At about 14 o'clock I reached the "Eagle Gorge", having wandered along which I went down to the village of Perevalnoye (approx.16:30'), from where I took a trolleybus to Simferopol. In the Eagle Gorge, I met the ubiquitous snowdrops, a cute leaf beetle Timarcha sp., and some kind of fly:

Why is it that you, Pasha, are drawn back to winter (to yayla)? confused.gif wink.gif It's up to you, of course, but I'd drive a little further, to the South Coast, where the nymphalids are already flying in full swing.

Thanks! I've already fixed it (I looked at the plants of Crimea website). Yayla is such a strange tradition for me... Chatyrdag is the first mountain in my life. I start hiking with her every year. I also celebrated my 18th birthday there... The beginning of expeditions from Chatyrdag has another goal-I check how "healthy" I am in terms of endurance over the winter smile.gif

There's still a snowball lying around, but I still managed to make my first outing. True, I did not go for insects - to climb around the cave.
But I also managed to dig up something.
I saw a couple of cute riders at the entrance, but I didn't know where to put them, so I left them.
At the exit, I found skosar, it seems nothing interesting.
But from the interesting - cool false scorpions, large and beautiful. Probably something cave-like, since I caught 3, and not near the entrance, but somewhere closer to the middle of the passage (the total length of the passed (crawled), I think, is from 1 to 3 km..).

Unfortunately, now in Russia, as I was told by the pros, there are no specialists in false scorpions. A few years ago, I caught 1 copy. in the depths of the Caucasian cave, I gave it to one of our leading specialists in the field of speleoentomology - still not determined, for this very reason.

March 15, steppe Crimea, Kholmogorka tract (east of Feodosia).
Sunny, light wind, +8...+10. Quite cool for mid-March.
Blooming: vesnyanka, veronika, kostenets, goose onion.
There are not too many animals: blackbirds, small ground beetles, elephants, caterpillars of Cryphia raptricula, Xestia trifida, Aporophyla ?canescens, Napuca ochrearia, ?Lasiommata megera, some kind of bagworm.
And also-flies, bedbugs, spiders, haymakers, ticks, woodlice, millipedes...

Today I wandered in the vicinity of Nizhnyaya Kutuzovka (Crimea, north of Alushta). Very warm, light wind. The land looked like this:

I found four mantis swellings on one branch at once:

A little flora:

A bit of arachnology:

Almond blossoms…
picture: 9.jpg

There weren't many butterflies. Only Nymphalis polychloros (many), Vanessa atalanta (1 individual), Aglais urticae (1 individual), and Lebythea celtis (1 individual) were found. The butterflies enjoyed the warmth so much that they didn't allow themselves to be photographed. Somehow managed to make a single frame with Nymphalis polychloros:
picture: 10.jpg
Of the "non-butterflies", some Xylocopa sp., 2 hares and various birds are still found – Large tits (Parus major), Jays (Garrulus glandarius), Blackbirds (Turdus merula), Finches (Fringilla coelebs). Oh, too weak... weep.gif

So spring has come to the Zaporozhye region. The first warm day.
We decided to go to the Molochnaya River (below Melitopol), light up for a couple of hours.
Entomozhizni is not yet visible. t 9-7 There was a danger that the butterflies would not fly.
They flew. And four species flew in. Not enough, but the opening
of the 2010 season took place, which I wish everyone.

False scorpions are brutal (although small), I caught one species under the aspen bark, and the other under the rowan bark (there were 6-7 individuals of which more than half were larvae)...

There are relatively few photos of false scorpions on the Internet,so they are one of the less popular groups ?and / or less attractive? Are they generally rare, or do we not see them because of their size?

On the weekend, the weather was excellent +19-21
On Saturday, I went to pick up the bark - I picked up a little stuff. But, it seems, I didn't collect anything particularly interesting.
On Sunday, at first we went with Shastik to pick the bark too, but there was not enough bark and the results were not good. Later, we came to a road in the middle of the forest. There was a little stream at the edge of the road, and I caught a lot of pretenders, probably furs, some elephants, and a few other small things. Flew c-album, Cypress, saw about 3 gray moth, but they escaped. And, of course, we were most pleased with the t-shirts - we met a couple of proskarabeus and a few decorus.

I can go to the pine forest tomorrow, under the bark of the pine tree I want to anvire the black-bodied Uloma culinaris (Linnaeus, 1758) and / or Uloma rufa (Piller et Mitterpacher, 1783) (I don't have this species in my collection),who knows? how do they differ, under the bark of pine trees both types are found?

And if anyone wants a black heifer Platydema violaceum (Fabricius, 1790), I can go to the oak forest and try to catch it, so that I can exchange later.

26.03.10. Near Bukryn (Mironovsky district) 140 km south-east of Kiev season opening. It so happened that we went only together with Gerasimov.
Upon arrival at 15-00, we walked through the open area, although it is warm +13, but windy and there are not even ordinary lemongrass trees. Gerasimov took two beetles bark beetle and weevil and flew A ?parthenias, but not slovilas.
We settled down under a canopy on the edge of a ravine due to the wind.
The miracle of Chinese technology did not pull 2 DRL250, although the second one turned on after the first one entered the mode( you need to try putting the capacity in parallel), it was good that there were 2 generators.
From 18-00 to 21-00 (+10 at the beginning +7 at the end, cloudless, bright moon)

That's what came to me

On Sunday, March 29, Liparus and I went out into nature for the first time this year, in the northern part of Kharkiv (a forest park near Pyatikhatok). Deciduous forest (mostly oak).
There is still snow mainly in the lowlands and on the northern slopes, and on the southern ones the first flowers are already breaking through.

The weather was mostly overcast, slightly positive.
It was better on Saturday, warm and sunny, but then Liparus just had protection, with which we can congratulate him. beer.gif
If I'm confusing you correctly, I'm a plant protection specialist... But, as far as I could see in a couple of years of our joint cooperation, of all the methods of insect control, he successfully mastered only the ancient Neanderthal method-manual gathering... Otherwise, I personally did not observe. smile.gif
