my first experience of fishing on the DRL-250. the impressions of the first nights of use are indescribable, as it seemed to me, hundreds of different species flew from the unnoticed micra to the loud hawkmoth.
such happiness I have not experienced from fishing probably never.
/ fishing was carried out on the outskirts of Fastov, Kiev region. dates are shown in the photo/

From September 16 to 20, I was on business in the west of Ukraine - in Ternopil. The weather turned out to be "non-flying" - regular rains, strong wind, temperature no higher than +15. Because of business and the weather, I managed to run through the hydropark and get out "beyond the station" - into the Pronyatinsky forest.
In the hydropark, as elsewhere in Ternopil, there is a massive drying of fir trees due to the activity of a bark beetle-typographer, and there is no cleaning of inhabited trees... From them I collected-actually Ips typographus, Ips duplicatus, some of the Crypturgus (cinereus?), from predators - Corticeus sp., Paromalus parallelepipedus.
In the city-Lagria hirta, Halyzia sedecimguttata, Otiorhynchus ? raucus, some kind of Staphylinus.
In the Pronyatinsky forest under the bark of dead wood: Platynus assimilis, Pterostichus niger, Carabus granulatus (bright metallic red-legged form), Phosphuga atrata (black and red), Quedius sp., Ampedus sp. , under the dead wood still small Harpalus sp. and Philonthus sp.
In general, banals, although Carabus granulatus-pleased all the beetles with bright red thighs and the color of the top is much brighter than that of our northern beetles.
Unfortunately, the camera was not carrying, so there is no photo... (if you are interested, I can take a picture of granulatuses) ...

And what kind of Ampedus sp., if it's not a secret? There may be interesting European species on the edge of the range ... rufipennis, for example.

I haven't looked at it yet, but it looks like A. pomorum

"Staphylinus" turned out to be Platydracus stercorarius, but in "green" it is still Staphylinus...

I post photos of granulatuses... mol.gif , I repent for the quality, but the coloring is clear...

Small Carabidae, Staphylinidae, Curculionidae - small autumn joys. There are almost more of them now than in the summer. Today, in the southern forest plantations of Chisinau, among other things, three new Bembidion were caught for me. Two on the lake shore, near the water's edge-B. articulatum and B. pallidipenne-are characteristic beetles and were quickly identified. The third one is very small (2.5 mm) and completely black. A distinctive feature is that it forms dense clusters of 10-15 beetles under the bark of dead pines. High on a hill and about a kilometer from the water. Has anyone met such phenomena and what kind of species can it be?

I also went to the pine forest (28.09.13 Kiev region) to pick something, there is no sun, there is sometimes rain. And I also collected such beetles, it fits the description, only I saw clusters of 5 to 10 pieces, Chegar, Bad Den - thank you for identifying them.
also under the crust: observed clusters of Polistes sp. Together with Vespula vulgaris, I collected bark beetles of 2-3 species, one specimen. Chalcophora mariana, and the question is, did it hide from the cold/die, the species does not winter at all? there are a couple of photos, but I can't post them right now. Sometimes, when the sun came out, fillies jumped, flies flew, mosquitoes and small eardrums.

Hello everybody! On September 28, I visited the plavni of the village of Korsunka.
There were few insects. Among the butterflies, there were several admirals, two light yellow jaundice, one saffron jaundice, a couple of mignonette whiteflies, several turnip turnips, Icarus pigeon, gamma scoops, a couple of small grasshoppers, and most of all pamphilus sennits. I was thinking... Maybe I'll find a peacock's eye!.. Or something else interesting... But that wasn't the case. Yes, and shoot themselves butterflies are not particularly allowed. I must admit that the colors are not enough. But the grass in moist places is green.
The sun went in and out of the clouds. In the sun, the sensations were twofold: on one side it was noticeably warm, on the other - a cold wind was blowing.

But in general, I had a good walk.

Despite the fact that I really like rain, I must admit that it has become very cold for our steppe zone, and in the coming days, judging by forecasts, the temperature should be almost sub-zero... Still, it's still too early for us to finish the season.

We went 28. IX. 2013 with barry to the forest. I did not take envelopes for butterflies as I did not think that they would fly, alas, Admiral, Thistle, belyanki flew.
Years of male wasps Vespula vulgaris (Linnaeus, 1758), Vespula germanica (Fabricius, 1793) and Vespa crabro males
There were beetles on raincoat mushrooms from the families Corylophidae and Cryptophagidae
Caught the bug Pentatoma rufipes

This weekend I went to the Carpathians-Lviv region, Skolivsky district, the village of Orov. The weather was sunny, but cold. I didn't catch any butterflies anymore (I didn't even take nets), there were frosts every night and in some places there was even snow! I was primarily interested in the carabus, which had already left for the winter. I looked for them in rotten stumps, under bark, etc. As a result, in one day (I couldn't catch more), I managed to pick up five species:
C. auronitens
C. irregularis
C. linnei
C. variolosus
C. violaceus
also caught a few cichruses (but these have not yet been identified) and a little more stuff. In general, I went well, despite excessive alcohol consumption (I was at a wedding), I found the strength to go out into the forest for insects. All beetles were caught on 05.10.2013 in beech and mixed forests.

Yes, there is nothing to report: I went, but I didn't find Mariana frown.gif. So, I picked up a bunch of Upis ceramboides again, a couple of Pytho depressus, the ubiquitous Rhagium inquisitor is full as always. It's cold, Dubak is already here: he's just as sick as Satan. And the mushrooms are almost gone.
Reports will now be available next season.

Today, Artur Shekhovtsov and I went to the forest near the pltf. Dachas (between Eskhar and Chuguev).
The forest here is very interesting, I've heard about it for a long time, but I still couldn't get to it... and now, at last, it was over, and we had to start somehow, even if not at the most favorable time.
The weather was overcast, but no rain, no wind, and quite warm.
We got there by train. For some reason, there were very few people and for some reason there were no singers, guitarists, drummers, merchants, etc., who brought them to a white heat with their importunity. Well, except that only a specific "electric" aroma accompanied us all the way. We arrived surprisingly calmly...
picture: CRW_0487.jpg

Arthur was already at the station, literally without leaving the platform, and began to work-turning over pieces of asphalt or concrete... maybe there will be something cool.
CRW_0483.jpg
And (I specifically emphasize this) he did it without letting go of his huge black bag, which contains all the necessary props...

CRW_0485.jpg
The forest (which we need) is located a little further from the station, it still had to overcome the meadow in the floodplain of the Seversky Donets River. The forest beyond the meadow was perfectly visible - we naively went directly, but it was not there... The road was blocked by several fairly wide ditches with water (I understand drainage channels), which we overcame with some difficulty. But when we came to the forest itself, it turned out that it was separated by a fairly wide water barrier (such as a swamp). And this swamp, overgrown with reeds, stretched literally from horizon to horizon, it is not even clear from which side to go around.
It became clear that without local villagers, you can't figure it out... fortunately, there was a shepherd with cows nearby, who explained that it was necessary to enter the forest from the river side.

Along the way, of course, we did not miss any suitable trunks and stumps for examination, and the road to the forest took us a couple of hours. In addition to all the little things caught the remains of Cucujus cinnaberinus (at least it is clear that he is here). And Arthur claims to have seen Macrothylacia rubi Lemonia dumi. And in principle, I also saw from 20 meters away how he was skipping after something that was not brown, not orange... but without the net... but holding his huge black bag in his hands. I've seen enough entomologists and insect lovers, but this method of fishing (with aggravating bulky objects) is unique to Arthur. And I'm so used to it that I don't even yell at him to quit, because I know it's useless.
I can't get a video of it, it's all happening so fast, but I'll catch him one day...
In general, we finally got into the forest, although we still had to climb through this swamp, which has no end in sight. After several attempts, I still managed to find a more or less passable area. In general, it's quite good for October, there are plenty of beetles... it feels like summer... the full report will be available later, but for now, a little bit of interesting stuff...
In the oaks, Arthur unearthed some swampy carabus (Carabus clathratus or something):
CRW_0494.jpg
CRW_0495.jpg

He collected mostly them (in the region of 20 pieces turned out), and the charge of their smelly liquid earned three times in the face (not counting the rest of the body). I tried to switch it to something smaller, but it didn't work...

And I came across some new to me chernotelka:
picture: CRW_6754.jpg

..there will be a continuation...

And quite correctly, except for this one, in my opinion, nothing from flying never came across, the weather was clearly not for butterflies.
