I know one thing: "Dreams come true "(Gazprom)

10.10.2013 22:02, Maksim M.

Andrey, by the way, in your places these animals may not even be rare, since the end of April in floodplain old forests, they can walk both on the ground and on trees, and often come in pairs, they also fall into traps-go for it..

10.10.2013 22:20, Чегар

This beetle is listed for Moldova, but I have not seen it, as well as many other specified ones. Floodplain forests? So they still need to be planted. We only have floodplain vegetable gardens (long moan).

10.10.2013 22:31, Maksim M.

Well, in the mountains, there are no vegetable gardens, but there are rivers..

Today, Artur Shekhovtsov and I went to the forest near the pltf. Dachas (between Eskhar and Chuguev) ...

And the mountains still need to be filled in. But I probably thicken it, everything can be found if you try. Where now you will find the perfect nature, but everyone adapts, both people and insects. Oh, for the weekend there is a planchik smile.gif

Krasata is terrible!!!!!!

The place is good, I would like to repeat...
True, they came out with problems, well, at least I raised a panic somewhere at 16: 30, which is like it's time to wrap up. They circled the same swamp three times... Then Arthur would have gone back to his shattered tree trunks if it hadn't been for him... I only blinked, in the mountains in the Crimea I feel more or less confident, but in these flat forests there is a complete zero...

When I first saw a normal retina on my eyes (in my own photos, of course), I immediately decided that there would be no turning back...
For forest reportage shooting, this is the best option. A tripod with a timer does about the same thing... But the beetle must sit... and not all of them have a balanced psyche... although it happens, even in the same Carabus clatratus.

But this can't be happening! If, as indicated, the shutter speed and aperture in both cases are almost the same (F/8, 1/60 sec), then why did the sharpness improve so much? Please enlighten wall.gifus

But this can't be happening! If, as indicated, the shutter speed and aperture in both cases are almost the same (F/8, 1/60 sec), then why did the sharpness improve so much? Please enlighten me wall.gif

Really a paradox, I only then realized what was really happening (of course, I had to strain my mind and philosophize).
The fact is that the frame in this case is formed by two light sources - natural light and flash. The lens usually covers direct sunlight, so you can shoot in the shade, which is our 1/60 sec. The flash puffs very quickly, I don't even know exactly how much I have, but they write about the numbers in the area 1/10 000 - 1/100 000. That is, in terms of normal shutter speeds, it is instantaneous, i.e. the freezing effect is manifested, which gives high clarity even if there is shaking from the hands and even if the insect moves. In fact, this particular frame (where the bug Himacerus apterus) is a combination of smeared (1/60 - natural light) and clear (flash). But the flash interrupted the natural light (the bug was in the shadow of me... I even still remember it) and clamps from 1/60 practically do not spoil the frame.
This parasitic effect will be less, the deeper the shadow (cloudy, twilight). But this parasitic effect will clearly come out when illuminated by a bright sun, when we shoot from below or from the side, when natural light will compete on equal terms with flash.
(clone from the hind leg)
picture: IMG_6471.JPG
In reality, everything sometimes turned out much worse, I just threw out the frames.
Although this effect can also play a positive role, for example, when shooting flights. The flash captures the wings, and from the usual shutter speed (natural light) there is a signal from the movement, you can see that the wings are working.
picture: IMG_21120.JPG
picture: IMG_5721.JPG
But in most cases, this only hindered and I had to find a way out. The fact is that Canon compacts (possibly in other models) automatically limit the shutter speed to 1/60 when the flash is activated. Even if I put 1/1000 of the frame with the flash, it was still done at 1/60. Canon considers itself smarter than everyone else (and it's okay to shoot close-ups like humans), but there are also some crazy people who shoot beetles instead of humans... And at high magnifications, a 1/60 hand shake is already a half-head clone. Especially if the device is spinning and moving after a moving insect - what kind of fixation is there?
But good people wrote the CHDK firmware, just when I was painfully looking for a way out - and the problem was solved. The shutter speed of 1/1000 was normally set via CHDK and really worked. Now almost all shooting with flash goes to 1/1000. I specially conducted "experiments on myself", even 1/500 in a dynamic environment is not enough for me (sometimes greases get out), when the insect moves - you have to twist the device and move it after it.
Using CHDK, we also managed to solve another problem - in my favorite Av mode (aperture priority), the soft flash adjustment did not work. Automatic manual control was set to 4 stages of flash power, of which 2 positions were practically suitable, naturally quite rough. Well, the aperture in macro is the depth of field... which is always not enough, for which you need to hold on with your teeth, as much as possible clamping the diaphragm.
Well, to shoot Arthur (he is also quite a dynamic comrade), I carry another CD with me, already configured for people. Remove lenses and rebuild the " bug " device there is no time if suddenly there is a good story... smile.gif

Good day to all colleagues.
Today I managed to escape from everyday work and go, in a warm company with the highly respected Chegar, not very far out of town, near the village of Lozovo.
The weather is certainly not sunny, but it is warm. There were no creatures crawling on the surface, but we didn't really look much, mostly picking under the bark of rotten oaks, hornbeams, and wild cherries. The catch is meager, but I was pleased with two new beetles for me, I will be very happy if you help me identify the beast. For more information about the trip, please contact Chegar smile.gif

Greetings to the esteemed lovers of foreign literature.
Those who don't take pictures are puffing away at the keyboard. And that's fair enough. Today, one of my most long-held dreams came true - I caught Neomidia haemorrhoidalis, three of them at once, in one rotten wood mushroom. A male and two females. This happened at the very end of the trip, actually on the way back. Sasha and I once again got out of the car and went deeper into the fabulous forest. Probably the thirtieth mushroom torn off with a chisel on this day gave a characteristic red-and-black "portrait" on the cut, which I studied well from photos on the Internet, and when I saw it for the first time in person, I immediately recognized it. For a long time I break and gut such mushrooms automatically, already without hope. And so it happened. Sashka saw everything, he was just tearing off the bark of the same cherry tree with his teeth. Sanya, you will be a witness!
We caught interesting beetles under the bark of fallen beeches (I always called this tree a beech, Carpinus Betulus, although it may be the same as hornbeam). Black, with white spots on the shoulders, presumably some Cymindis of the limbata type. I caught two of them, too, but I managed to lose a jar of beetles, including all sorts of small things. Zhalko. I didn't have any of them.
Aruginos was surprised to see her sitting quietly on the trunk of a dry beech tree (!), as if it were the 24th of May in the yard. Although, it was really warm in spring, with a sort of haze, rays through the leaves, the trill of a woodpecker...
Oh! Another cool bark beetle is Opilo mollis (Linnaeus 1758). In general, I have a slightly special relationship with the clerids, they are aristocrats among beetles, or something. But I personally do not get them, only five types, including two necrobia. So I was very happy with the bug, but it's still so bright, the pattern is clear and pronounced.
The same lost trifle had to be retrieved again. This is a very interesting detail. especially weevils, which are shaggy and very harsh. And 4-5 other types. I have identified only Salpingus ruficollis from them so far. Cool trunk moves like a shrew. Or maybe I imagined it. From not quite small uzhusy-kukuzhusy, platidema violaceum, skafidema metallica (or maybe not metallica!), some kind of agonum, black, they have Sled on the mattress. In the foliage at the bottom of the canyon - two species of pterostichus, and one badister. Seems new to me.
We drove back, looking for a place to dig in the cow shit. But of the cattle, only two horses were seen at the roadside. We also ran into a biker rally. A couple of us on a motorcycle famously overtook, and the girl who clung to the guy at the wheel - the upper half of the ass-is naked. HALF THE SCREEN. It brought us back to life and we stopped by for coffee.

1) Cucujus cinnaberinus
2) Three is just right. 35 is too
much 3) Aruginosa looks great on the rough bark of a beech tree. The main thing is that it is completely unexpected. Surprise effect!

So sho there to dream - in old tinder boxes, which are squeezed, which you can break with your hands, quite a common phenomenon, and often together with Bolitophagus reticulatus.
It is necessary to voice your dreams-good people will always tell you...
And today I also have a dream come true - I sowed the first Clambidae from a compost heap in the garden. smile.gif Quick infections, a couple of pieces of the hut is already flying...

12.10.2013 23:39, Чегар

Thanks for the tip about tinder boxes. But I've probably crushed hundreds of them over the past three seasons. Bolitofagusov has seen thousands. Last fall, I brought some mushrooms from the forest "with holes", as they advised here. At the beginning of spring, I brought them to the house and somehow forgot about them. Bolitofagusy hatched, made holes in the bag of coelophanic and scattered around the apartment. I've been fighting them all summer. And not a single neomid. I think it's just that the spirits of the forest took pity and threw this trio to me. With the condition that I won't search again. I won't. mol.gif

13.10.2013 0:25, barry

And not a single neomid.

Strange... both in the Crimea and in Kharkiv, they are more or less stable. Perhaps there is another more subtle factor...
