Today, 27.02.2015, was in the steppe in the Kherson region. It was this morning 4 gr. heat, frost, in the afternoon-13 degrees at least, sunny. From insects-bedbugs, wasps, midges, some dragonfly flew by, ants, some other small creature that looks like a stick insect, but has 8 legs. In general, I thought maybe there would be some butterflies, but I didn't find either Licia zonaria or others. I didn't see any beetles in the steppe either. Only in the evening, when it was dark, already in the city I observed weevils on a poplar tree in the sands.

And some photos:

I don't remember exactly. I didn't keep any records then. I can confidently say about two copies, one of which is now lost.

February 27, 2015. Crimea, Feodosia, rocks above the village of Krasnokamenka.
Weather: Mostly sunny, light wind. The temperature is +16.
Some kind of gelechiid met from the butterflies. And also the caterpillars of the leafhopper?, Aporophyla canescens and some scoops.
In addition - bees, bumblebees, flies, young jellyfish, young grasshoppers, spiders, gooseberds, lizards.
The evergreens have faded. Snowdrops are blooming. Crocuses and woodlands are blooming. The first flowers of violets, Caucasian rhizus, dogwood blooms.
Down in the village - a military unit-soldiers march back and forth to the beat of drums-something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQHAZmh96gI

It's really warm in Chisinau today, and even the beetles believe that it's spring and it's time to get out. Small aphodia flew, staphylinae, amarae and one crushed Dorcadion holosericeum on the asphalt. The female. I was in the Chisinau Arboretum today, Dermestes laniarius goes a lot, I didn't take it. But I caught a Helophorus fly: 3.5 mm, gray, with poorly distinguishable black and yellow mottling, on the elytra three well-marked ribs, ridges on the pronotum are high. I prefer Helophorus nubilus.
It's a new season. Here we go!

21.03.2015 decided to open the season with Musson Max in Zhytomyr region Luginsky district mixed forest with a predominance of pine in the vicinity of the village of Pavlyukivka. The weather in the first half of the day was clear and sunny. Lemongrass trees and wintering nymphalids flew. We searched for Archiearis notha, but unfortunately we only came across parthenias. However, our colleagues still found it about twenty kilometers away. But while we were docking with them and calling up, the sun went down and we got to the analysis of hats. They found one dead woman on the road and that's it. So we moved it to the next time, even though we know the place now. Our main target was Odontosia sieversii. In Ukraine, it is quite rare and local. In the evening, after meeting with Dantist, we went to catch them . And still caught! For the three of us, about twenty copies arrived. And not a single female. In addition to sieversii, Achlya flavicornis scoops and an assortment of scoops flew in the mass. Maxim and I came across something like this:
-Anorthoa munda
-Brachionycha nubeculosa
-Conistra rubiginea
-Conistra vaccinii
-Lithophane furcifera
-Lithophane socia
-Orthosia incerta
-Orthosia gothica
-Orthosia populeti
By ten in the evening it was very cold to plus three and we had to curl up. The 2015 season is open!

26/03/15, Kherson region, a gully near the village of Burgunka.
The weather is quite warm and cloudy, the wind is weak or almost absent, early in the morning frost and fog.
There were flies, beetles, butterflies and caterpillars.
Of the daytime butterflies, only Issoria lathonia - 6 pieces (in general, this beam is rich in them). Another small bag fell into the grass. Crawling caterpillars of bears, false finches, cinxia, Ethmia pusiella.

Today I remembered that a couple of weeks ago a barbel larva, brought last fall from Lozov, pupated. It was taken from the stump of a poplar tree, about six pieces were dug under the bark, Igor took half of it for himself (but I'll ask him what happened?). Of the three remaining ones, one remained, the largest, where did the others go-I don't know, they had nowhere to go from the plastic box, dematerialized. And now one pupated. I was counting heavily on something poplar and aspen, ideally Saperda carcharias. Or at least similis. I just saw a small male Morimus funereus sitting and eating the shell of a pupa. Is this possible in the poplar (100%) funereus stump?

The question is removed. From wikipedia - " The larva develops in a wide range of deciduous tree species." I just didn't expect it, I only found beetles on oak stumps.

Greetings, dear like-minded people.
Finally, the weather has cleared up for us, the sun is hot, the grass is turning green, +21 in the shade.
We decided today to go to not far to the south, about 35 km. from the capital, to the village of Razeny.
We went purposefully to Dorkadionov, hoping to meet D. pussilum and D. cinerarium/ In fact, that Andrey (Chegar) and I managed to do...looking at it smile.gif

Actually, yes. Quite an ordinary color. In D. pussilum, it is much more variable.

So we went to Rezeny. First I bought a liter bottle of Zhigulevsky for traps and a spare pack of cigarettes, and then we went to Rezeny. Sung once by another forum classic. Andrey-batono, when you are going to Chisinau, bring a couple of bags of three and zero pins if you can.
Here we go, and such freedom is felt in the soul that you want to drop the steering wheel and start collecting beetles right on the side of the road. But we have almost reached Resen, and on the right hand you can see a vast, half-submerged meadow adjoining the forest. I'm making up my mind. We park at the bump stop, and while we unload some simple things, I notice a cop car about 50 meters ahead and two traffic policemen who are staring in our direction. Now I look at everything through their eyes: a steep Daewoo Matiz is clearly flying over the speed limit, then suddenly brakes sharply right in front of the mobile post (crosses the solid line), two men jump out of the car, grab some bags from the cabin and trunk, jump over the bump and go into the forest. The car is thrown in the middle of the highway. I thought they would call helicopters, riot police, and cordon off the entire Ialoveni district. But nothing, when we returned in 20 minutes, they were already gone. What Sanya caught in the meadow I don't know, I got two lixuses on young sorrel, most likely L. bardanae and a nondescript baby.
Sledge and I spent half the remaining time walking along littered roadsides and vacant lots with dried cow pancakes. As if they were looking for dorcadions. There were several Fulmuvs and tauricums, and a dozen cinerariums. Periodically came across T-shirts, taken from: a large female Meloe cicatricosus-I want to make a scarecrow and spread it decently, and then you can't look at my T-shirts (6 types) without tears. And a male Meloe scabriusculus. Kravchikov walked a lot, picked up a bunch of different "steppe" harpalins, there is definitely Harpalus dimidiatus, it seems that Sasha also has it in the photo. And little things like Lebia cyanocephala and chrysolin Ch. limbata and marginata.
But it didn't feel like a real holiday. Then Sanya offered to go to the lake, in the field near it in 2010, he and Ripper scored almost a thousand pusillums. Go. There were plenty of Pussilums, but that wasn't the point. In the end, it turned out that you just need to sit on the ground and carefully look at every movement. Thus, two Mogulones geographicus (Ceutorhynchinae) were discovered from weevils, one of which Sasha honestly shared with me. I first saw and caught (7 pieces) Stephanocleonus nigrosuturatus is just a delight! Caught 3 stupidly crawling on the ground some Baris, long, shiny, 4 mm with a pursed muzzle. I would go for Baris atricolor, but for coleop123.narod.ru " too big." Two more gloomy leaf beetles, Cassida atrata, and a couple of very rare ones, Onthophagus kindermanni, are also found on earth. Under the piles of last year's cheklezh (corn stalks) - just a fair of small ground beetles. Everything that is possible has been taken, but these comrades need to be dealt with.
And there are a lot of other good things, there are interesting beetles, even about the family I can't understand.
I went out for a smoke (it's raining outside, the strongest wind), and here he is-the first winner in the category "balcony beetle"!! He became one ... they became..... (ink)..... Leatherworm Megatoma undata!!!!! jump.gif

A curtain. Buffet.

14.04.2015 14:28, Василий Л.

So on the 13th, I went to a mixed forest about a kilometer from my house (by the way, my first outing of this field season). It wasn't raining, thank God, so I was free to walk around for three hours and pick up the animals.
I decided to stop near an artificial pond, which the villagers gave the name Second Ozyavina. First I explored the coast. There were a couple of harpalus trees and a few weevils. There were a couple of dragonflies perched on the reeds, but as the bank was steep, I couldn't catch them. I didn't see any more dragonflies after that.
Well, now the most interesting part is the survey of the reservoir itself. First I caught a dozen water meters of different types, and then (well, quite accidentally!) I came across a water stickworm (Ranatra linearis) lurking at the bottom, waiting for a victim, which, of course, became my victim itself. smile.gif Well, after that, the real hunt for plavuntsami, vertyachkami and gladyshami began! I chased them for almost two hours and in the end, all wet, but happy and satisfied with my catch (about 15 pieces of the above-listed animals of different species) was going to leave. But here (here it is, luck!) I noticed a male zorka (Anthocharis cardamines) flying over the coast. A swing of the net, and the butterfly flutters in the net! Only I "coped" with the aurora (the second name of this lovely insect), two male lemongrass (Gonepteryx rhamni) flew to the pond. I finally managed to catch one of them.
But the surprises didn't end there. Suddenly, a bat (presumably a common bat) flew in from somewhere and (what would you think!) she sat right on top of me! I had to take her (even though she protested) and put her in a tree.
That was the end of my first foray into the woods this field season. Well, although my catch was not the richest, but I was satisfied. jump.gif
