Everyday life in urban entomology. Issue 64. Ta-ta-ta-taaaaamm!
This year, the second Indian summer, the October warming, was slightly delayed, so the Chisinau elephants from Ceutorhynchinae also appeared later, and somehow not together. A year ago, at this time, the wall (north, by the way) of a nearby supermarket was already completely covered with Stenocarus ruficornis, and the peak of summer has already passed. I just don't know if it's summer or autumn migration in search of a place to spend the winter. Now it's not enough. And very little Hypera postica. These two species move synchronously somewhere en masse every year, and I have never found them in the summer, I don't remember such a case. But it's not about them, but those beetles that accompany them in piece quantities. Today it turned out to be Thamiocolus sahlbergi !! It's a great copy, although only one, but I hope to find a couple more. Two more species of Ceutorhynchus were caught, green and black, but very small, one and a half and two mm., two species of Sitona - S. puncticollis and S. macularius, the second is new to me. And the last find on the wonderful wall is a Psylliodes leaf block, 3.5 mm, while shto straightened out the land, I will determine (loudly said) how I will stick it. So far, I'm leaning towards P. chalcomerus. So, November, and the season continues, although last winter I caught in December and in January, too. And winter is not eternal, as it turned out later.

I haven't seen butterflies here anywhere at this time.

On November 14, Artur Shekhovtsov and I were in the area of the village. Khoroshevo. South of Kharkiv, floodplain of the Uda river.
The weather is acceptable for this time, the temperature is around +6, but sometimes the wind is stronger. Overcast, according to the forecast, even a light rain was planned, but it passed.
The previous days were also slightly positive, the bark was not frozen.
Arthur looked mostly under the bark, and was pleasantly surprised to find several imagos of Cryphaeus cornutus, especially at such a late hour.
I sowed well and the dropout rate is very encouraging, there will still be a significant replenishment of the assortment...

Yes, the range pleased me. Then Arthur himself was there on November 22, and I'll give you a report soon. The weather was worse, with temperatures around -3...-5, it was sown worse and coverage at smaller points.
And on the 25th, we went out near me to the Forest Park, but I haven't caught everyone in the dropout yet...

"Twelve Months" is an entomological remake! Dendrophilus punctatus is a test toddler, I caught it myself only twice in my life, once I got out of the litter. I also recommend sowing anthills in kholodryga.

We plan to. There are three other types of red ones.
I have already asked Pavel Krásenský how he finds them... smile.gif

Has anyone ever seen an apion on mistletoe (Ixapion variegatum)?

This "baby" is usually caught by sifting dust from the hollows of various trees. True, it is difficult to see it in the piles of remains of dead insects...

In the north of Belarus, 2 species of them are caught

Dendrophilus (s. str.) corticalis corticalis (Paykull, 1798) (= Dendrophilus punctidor-sus Marseul, 1962; = Hister punctulatus Say, 1825 homonym: non Olivier, 1789; nec Brahm, 1790; nec Wiedemann, 1819; = punctatus (Herbst, 1792, nec O.F. Müller, 1776). [Radkevich, 1936; Alexandrovich and Tishechkin, 1991; Alexandrovich et al., 1996; Solodovnikov, 1999a]. Doc., Mi., Pol., Shum., Besh., Gor., Vit. It is rare and local. It is found in anthills of the genera Formica and Lasius, in nests of squirrels and birds of prey, less often in cellars. Adults overwinter. 18.03-12.08, beetle activity in the cellars is year-round.

D. (s. str.) pygmaeus (Linnaeus, 1758) (= Dendrophilus cooperi Stephens, 1830; = Hister dubius Herbst, 1792; = Hister formicetorum Aubé, 1833; = Hister picipes Olivier, 1789). [Alexandrovich and Tishechkin, 1991; Solodovnikov et al., 2011; Pliskevich, 2012, 2014; Solodovnikov and Pliskevich, 2014a]. Ver., Besh., Sept., Vit. Probably ubiquitous and common in the region. Myrmecophilus, found in the nests of ants of the genus Formica. Adults spend the winter in an anthill. 12.04 – 10.10.

Today, in the entrance - the third species this year - Hypena rostralis.

Unfortunately, I don't know. This is the find of a friend of mine from Sevastopol.
As for the weather in Feodosia, today was the warmest day of the year - 12 degrees Celsius, partly cloudy, light wind. The elms are budding, and snowdrops are blooming near the entrance.

And in Simferopol they filed and were seen on Tuesday.

Kiev region. Boguslavsky district. I went for a walk in the woods yesterday. It was quite warm, I even expected to see some of the spring butterflies. But only here is a catch under the bark of pine stumps: Rhagium inquisitor and some, it seems, blackbirds.

In 4 photos, most likely Phyllonorycter sagitella, if there is an aspen or poplar tree in the area, then this is it. They winter under the bark in large groups.

In general, it is already possible to state the fact that spring has come. Today I walked through the park near the Dnieper River (just do not think that this is a park where they grow grass, no, it is quite wild), there are a lot of poplars, including fallen ones, willows, elms, reeds. Fly all sorts of midges, run spiders. I did not meet any butterflies at night or during the day, although the temperature is 12.5 g. (if not more) and the sun peeked out from time to time from behind the clouds.

Jackdaws?! These pigeons, born in our Yaroslavl region, did not fly anywhere, all winter they raced with pigeons in garbage dumps.
