Kumysnaya Polyana, 20. IX. 2014

Closing (?) the 2014 season. He picked under the bark, turned over tree trunks, and sifted through the litter. From the interesting - came across Stenus (Parastenus) ludyi Fauvel, 1886, which is already pasted. There are also an unusually large number of small furry animals in the forest smile.gif

Part Two-Macro scales
Here is everything that was encountered during the period from September 5 to September 21.
Briefly about the weather. The first week of our stay turned out to be very warm and sometimes overcast, which naturally could not but affect the summer, but the second week was not very pleasant at night, sometimes up to +2. In general, it was many times better than last year, and I am happy with the arrival. Some of the collected females threw eggs, some of the caterpillars came out,the proposed spontaneous food did not give results. So I'm asking for help with the definition.
If some types will be repeated, I apologize.

Hello everyone From 19 to 22 I was at my dacha in the Kasimov district of the Ryazan region. Tc was beautiful sunny weather, I decided to look in the immediate vicinity of the station Lemonia dumi. I had several suitable places in mind-fields where there is no farming, no mowing of grass, and which do not flood during high water. I started with a dry meadow, overgrown with yastrebinka, not far from the Oka River. After half an hour of fruitless fermentation, I was about to move to another point, when a fresh male flew out of nowhere right at me. Naturally, I stayed to iron the area further. In total, from 12 to 14 o'clock, I observed flights of about 20 males.
The next day, I arrived at the area early to observe what time the year starts. Tk nights were very cold (up to 2 degrees), butterflies start flying from 11-30, and the mass flight occurs from 12-30 to 14, and ends around 15. It is characteristic that during this period only males fly. They fly at a level of approximately 2 m from the ground, changing their trajectory very quickly. It is interesting that on this day, unlike the previous one, all the males were already fairly flown.
According to the literature, mating occurs between 14 and 15 hours, and then males stop flying and females start flying, periodically diving into the grass and laying eggs. In just 2 days, three females met, approximately from 15-30 to 17 hours, two flown and one completely fresh. Females are characterized by a characteristic " low " flight and fly quite close to the ground. From the latter, we managed to get some eggs.
The goal was fulfilled - a population with a relatively high population density was found, which in the future will allow us to continue observing this interesting species.

In Saratov, the "Indian Summer" has come. The weather is wonderful! Daytime +20.

I decided to take a short walk in the Kumysnaya Polyana forest park. The collections are very similar to the previous ones - Notiophilus palustris, Badister, Stenus ludyi, Ocypus, Oxypoda. There are a lot of funny ant-loving crickets in the anthills. A couple of even pickled (along with copies). the ant).

Viktor Dmitrievich,in my opinion, this is a kind of juniper and each dark green spot is initially one tree, and it grows to the sides vegetatively in area, and not in height. And it is carried by seeds from berries, which, as can be seen in the photo, are very large.DSCN3302.JPGDSCN3303.JPGDSCN3304.JPG

I'm not really talking about that. You use the term "tree"in reference to this juniper tree. And in relation to trees, when they say "diameter", they usually mean the diameter of the trunk. So imagine a tree with a diameter of 80 meters! eek.gif
You are talking, as is now clear, about the diameter of the crown, or rather even about the area of growth of the shrub (the shrub does not have a main trunk, and therefore this characteristic - the diameter of the trunk - is not relevant).
