Yesterday's-the day before yesterday's Oil Run:
Considering the weather, it's strange that anything flew at all.

Butterflies in the snow...
I'm cold for them smile.gif

Somewhere from 9 to 10: 30. Nothing flies at all at night in such dubar.

Meanwhile, in Odintsovo, the flies that have woken up are crawling out of the cracks in the window frames, yawning lazily and buzzing... smile.gif

So I opened the season yesterday. Ruzsky district, Lenkovo. The night was cold and moonlit, shining until 23.40. Only 6 butterflies arrived-Orthosia gothica, incerta, Brachionycha nubeculosa, Biston strataria, Lycia hirtaria, Apocheima pilosaria. During the day, nothing, there is still snow everywhere, on which some mosquitoes like zvontsov crawl and fuck.

On Sunday, I also tried to find this species on the trunks of oak trees, but alas...
And at what height were they sitting? Very interested in any information on their search on trunks.

19.04.2011 18:56, lepidopterolog

At the base of the trunk, just emerged from the pupae apparently. In general, I found both males and females quite high - 2 - 2.5 m above the ground.

The second part of our adventures. April 16-17.
So not quite the morning of April 16.The snow has noticeably decreased.
1.JPG
A life-saving homeless package of doshirak, a green snake that stung us in the carotid artery with 1 liter of diluted alcohol let oseba know, our faces were slightly swollen like those of honored beekeepers of Russia who were bitten by wrong bees, well, after we got up, we were looking for Vlad's socks for about half an hour. What is the most amazing feeling like astronauts.
picture: 2.jpg
When they came to their senses in the evening, they decided to go to the city for another DRL, and for one ride to Voinova Gora to see the fishing spot at night from April 17 to 18, because the local biotope is very different from the Poplar one.

Somewhere at 21: 10, the arrival of the Eriogaster lanestris began. In the course of 20-30 minutes, 6 males and one female will shoot from a machine gun.

So we cooled their ardor so as not to get frayed, all but one, clean.

When I went fishing in Voinova Gora,I forgot to take my camera with me, so I had to shoot on my phone,so don't judge me harshly.Behind us is the Klyazma River.

In front of us is a railway,in the picture in the background you can see a passing Peregrine falcon. The screens were positioned so that one looked in the direction of the piece of iron, and the other in the direction of the river,so on the screen that was sent to the railway. the road was much steeper than on the other.

Gennadich, - I really liked it! - the chronicles are very succinct, delicious and humorous!

to sergey nyu: What a cool kurtskaar you have!

Briefly. We got out for a few hours at the dacha. In our Chigasovo on half of the lanterns on the stratarium and 2-3 nubekulezy.
I tried to catch the buzzing on the newly bloomed willows in the lens, but I couldn't.
In the ditches, sharp-faced frogs opened the mating season

I also went only for today to Odintsovo district of the Moscow Region (Pestovo), so I didn't catch it in the light, collecting it during the day, but if you add 3-4 types of scoops, the result is quite worthy of catching it in the light) only for some reason there are also a few microbes( I had to climb for a couple of butterflies, knocking them down with a branch from under the lantern-at least with something- the icy rain turned out to be useful, otherwise I would have been looking for a stick 7 meters long for a long time) By the way, weather sites quite amicably promise rubbish for the May Day holidays, so when it will be possible to fish on the AWL for the first time this season is not known.
Among the wintering diaries were peacock's eye, urticaria and lemongrass, the main prey was moth)

Agriopis marginaria
Apocheima hispidaria
Archiearis parthenias
Lycia hirtaria

On April 23-24, we opened the summer season with Zhuk at my dacha, Donino station, Ramenskoye district, Moscow region.
Epirranthis diversata flies in the clearing under the power line near the station - we took 4 males and 2 females for two in 2 days.
E.diversata.jpg
Night fishing did not meet expectations, the most interesting (and even then, conditionally) - a male Lycia pomonaria and 4 males Biston strataria. Orthosia incerta and Achlya flavicornis fly in the mass, less often - Apocheima pilosaria, Brachionycha nubeculosa, Orthosia gothica, Eupsilia transversa. Lycia hirtaria has already flown out.
My part of the catch, the Beetle will come to supplement it.

It seems that last weekend few people met their expectations. I, however, had no illusions of any kind, because I was at the dacha in Yaroslavl, and there is nothing interesting to come across. Banal spring set - flavicornis, orthosia Gothic, cerasi, populetti, inserta, more nubeculose, munda, vaccinia, pilosaria, hispidaria, hirtaria, strataria and marginaria.
The Kazakh also had nothing interesting, one samei lanestris, several siversi plus a gray mass.
The same thing, but instead of lanestris, endromis was under Gus-Zhelezny at Mikhail and Viktor's.

(isn't it a note? smile.gif I have never dealt with this species, compared it with female parthenias - they have narrower hind wings, and a different color...)

Now I will also have, perhaps, a little stupid question. Many recent reports have mentioned the moth Epirranthis diversata. So, I would like to know:was it caught in the light at night,or was it collected during the day? And more.In which biotopes is it best to collect this species?

It's still quite her time. The front wings are more monotonous in the male, and females just happen to have very contrasting bandages on the front wings (in parthenia, the contrast there is formed not by bandages at all, but between the background and light spots), so the presented specimen is very similar to the female note. Although, of course, it would be best to look at the mustache with magnification.

It flies both day and night.

I caught my first male in the Oil Field in the light. And today Gennadich and I saw the tueva hoocha sabzha during the day - they are easily scared out of the dry grass in the clearings. The main thing is that the wind does not blow away, they fly shitty.

Can I tell you more about the mustache? In males, everything is clear with them, but how do they work in females?
