This was already my fourth trip to this place as a teacher of entomology in children's and youth ecological expeditions, and therefore it was perceived by me almost as a vacation in the country smile.gif- and I did not expect particularly productive fishing this time, especially since August on Utrisha is the "season" except for straight - winged birds and praying mantises.

And on the flowers of mallow I found here such a larinus-like weevil, in my opinion some kind of slightly subtropical appearance. Maybe something imported? (near the port city of Anapa)

Fruit-bearing pistachio

If you break them apart, it turned out that approximately identical-looking galls feed two completely different hosts - inside one are broods of large orange aphids.

inside the others-caterpillars about a centimeter long (leaf wrapper)?

P1010152.JPG

As a variant of Calymma communimacula, very interesting! one of the few predatory guchenits. It feeds on these aphids. I've never seen it, so I might be wrong.

Well, they have not laid new eggs for about a month, I suspect that they "did everything they could" smile.gifAlthough it is possible that adding protein food will simply prolong their life..

I think it's not communimacula, and something from Crambidae.

Well, guys, it's generally +18 today. It's been holding up for two days now.
If it wasn't for moving into the house, I went fishing. But even so, admirals flew around the site in the center of Stavropol. This is our first day of winter. It also happens that the plus value is kept until December 31. tongue.gif

Hello. On January 2, in the forest on the southern sunny slope of Mount Mashuk, some tender diptera, about 1 cm long, were jostling in the air, very characteristic of all winter thaws... I wonder what family they belong to and where their larvae live...

Maybe it's Winter mosquitoes (Trichoceridae).

Yesterday we were overcast and not cold. On the slope of Goryachaya Mountain-Mashuk's travertine daughter, on a hot hydrogen sulfide spring (around a grove of gledichia and privet bushes), I saw mating flies, size 4 mm !!!. - Maybe this is an action on the 98th anniversary of Ilyich's death?.. rolleyes.gif
In the evening, the first "spring" rain began to fall. At night, the half-moon shone against a turquoise background, framed by a red-brown ring, against a background of running ragged clouds. Ghostly cosmic crazy beauty!
And today, the first New Year's "indoor" fly appeared in the kitchen! It became even warmer and windy.
Now I'm going to work-maybe I'll see something in the woods in between smile.gif.

- Today I worked at the Slavyanovsky spring - 5 minutes to go + 3 minutes to go.
Here is my first fly today from the post - some Musca domestica probably. "I just sat down on my laptop. I've read that it's practically nonexistent in nature, but the red Book won't let it pass. smile.gif

Just now I went to the store to buy cigarettes , and there at the entrance under the lamp bedbugs Lygaeus equestris crawling. The temperature outside, compared to the same numbers last year, differs by 40 degrees!

I read Julia's report with great interest... Thank you, your tests were not in vain!!
I'm often asked - what's the big deal

Oleg, thank you for your feedback! Indeed, during 7 expeditions, so many interesting things had accumulated that it was impossible to keep it only as one's own wealth. That's why these stories appeared. I am very glad that they liked it and achieved their goal-we have already passed February! Soon it will be time to check, sew and repair the nets...well, there's a new hunting season open!
Dear entomologists, collectors and fans of butterflies and beetles! Hello again.
Thank you so much for the report! I didn't have any problems with the rangers and border guards. As in 2007 with the export of material? How did you register? How are the traffic cops local? If you're not offended, tell us.
Well, we try not to go into nature reserves. Another thing is that almost the entire northern slope of the Trans-Ili Alatau is the Ile-Alatau National Park. And we met with the huntsmen more than once – on Ketmen, in northern Dzungaria, in the same Boguts, we put up a tent in the cordon yard. And on Sary-Chelek they even lived in the garden of the guest house of the reserve (they did not dare to stay in the house itself because of the specific biting animals). We do not hide our goals and objectives and the people are sympathetic, the main thing is that we do not have guns and we are interested in all sorts of leopards, markopolo sheep and peregrine falcons only as an object of photographing. Especially when you show a huge number of landscapes, butterflies and plants on the screen of the camera.
Registration is required in Kazakhstan. It is done in different ways-either stay in a hotel for a day or go to the police department yourself and get registered in a day (as we did in 2005 in Atyrau in Western Kazakhstan). Just in 2007, after five hours of running around the offices, we were told that nothing was needed anymore. Then again introduced - in 2008, 2010 and 2011. To the Kyrgyz, if for a month, then registration is not needed. The Tajiks also canceled it at the end of last year.
Well, traffic cops are the same everywhere, although such lawlessness as in Russia (especially in Bashkiria) we didn't meet them there. In Kyrgyzstan, in general, for several trips, they never stopped.

I often visit Bashkiria. If you drive according to the rules, then everything is fine. Once, however, I was caught at a decent speed limit, but it also turned out to be a joke and a small fine. Tatar Gaytsy have the most negative reputation in the country!

Yes, in September I drove up to Ufa, drove according to the rules, made an overtaking move. they stopped me and said that I crossed a solid road with an exit to the oncoming lane (but it's not there!)! my driver's license was taken away, despite all my arguments. they gave me a temporary shelter. in the magistrate's court, having studied the case materials, the judge issued a decision to find me guilty and impose a fine (he barely managed to avoid deprivation). the request for marking locations on that section of the highway was not answered for a long time. and he came immediately after the court session!! same day. Naturally, there was no solid marking on the dislocation - it was broken everywhere. Appealed the decision to a higher court. There, the ruling was overturned and found not guilty. As a result, I spent 5 months driving without a license in a temporary parking lot, which I had to go and renew every month. It is still lucky that I came after the trial and read the response received by the traffic police of Bashkiria, otherwise I would never have found out that I was innocent and would have given 5 tr for nothing! And you say, everything is fine )) continuous lawlessness, that in the traffic police, that in the courts. until you reach the higher authorities , you will not be justified, even if you are right! Many people say the same about Bashkir traffic policemen, and about Tatar ones too. and then I felt it firsthand.

Hello everyone. I bring to your attention my report on a hike in the mountains, to the alpika. Sochi, Krasnaya Polyana, Bzerpinsky cornice, Pseashkho pass. I went on August 19, I couldn't write earlier, because I didn't have time, and then my computer broke down. Well, better later than never. The main goal of the campaign was to capture Parnassius Nordmanni. During the hike, vigilant nature reserve inspectors confiscated the net, while writing as many as two protocols. One of the photos shows how they make up the protocols... lol.gif I was really upset, but then I believed in myself and caught the female Nordman with my hands!!! smile.gif This was my first Parnassius, apart from the donated and purchased copies. But a dry butterfly from a bag is not at all what is caught in its natural habitat, and even with its own hands. Of course, this may seem ridiculous to many, but I have dreamed of catching it all my adult life, since I read the book "In Search of Apollo" at the age of 14.Arakcheeva Street. I could not even imagine that they fly very close, you just need to climb higher in the mountains. I go to the mountains systematically, but not high enough. Well, as they say, it's all lyrics... smile.gif In general, there were not so many butterflies. Shabby erebia, jaundice, whiteflies, nymphalids... The end of August is rather late... It's colder in the mountains. But I'm going to catch up this summer... I ordered a Czech-made folding net to poach in the nature reserve... lol.gif Later I went up to the south, to the Aibgu ridge, even higher, to the very top of the Black Pyramid Mountain, where it was even sadder with butterflies. And in general, a lot of impressions from the hike, most importantly, I learned how to make my way to the Alpika, which I did not know before. I thought that it would take at least a week to go in one direction, in fact it is, if not for one such terrible and at the same time beautiful device as a cable car. DSC01163.JPG DSC01168.JPG What is really plentiful in the mountains is hymenoptera, mostly bumblebees. I've never seen so many bumblebees before. How a repeat offender can be fined cool. You'd better go to Terskol, where there are even more nordmanni, and no nature reserves.

No, the main thing there is to carry it through the cordon, show the pass, and then you need to buy it, and then they don't rummage... They need to check their pass. You can certainly bypass it, but this is a very long time. Later I went without a pass and caught up to the cordon, but I didn't meet any Parnassians there, maybe because it was already the beginning of September and not the season...

Yes, it was. In the same city, in Sochi, not in Moscow smile.gifIn the Zavokzalny district. It was summer, the Allancastrians were already flying away, and it's hard to confuse them. And even more so with podaliriyom. It was absolutely Parnassius, and we don't seem to have anyone else besides nordmanni.

20.03.2013 22:25, Alexandr Zhakov

It was definitely Parnassius, and we don't seem to have anyone but Nordmanni.

It might as well have been Parnassius apollo or Parnassius mnemosyne, which is more likely.

Definitely not mnemosyne, because I remember the red spots well. But Apollo really could be judging by the dots.

Apollo is twice the size of Nordmanni. Mnemosyne flies in the spring and maybe in early summer. I can't deny it, of course, but my brain just refuses to accept it. No offense meant, but I'm more inclined to believe that it was a belated Zeryhthia caucasica or Polyxena. They are generally vaguely similar to Nordmanni in wing shape, size, and color set. Back in school, without having a good determinant, I caught Zerinthia and was then 100 percent sure that it was Apollo umnik.gif

After such excellent reports, it is somehow a shame to post anything.. smile.gif . Well, I'll take a chance, maybe someone will be interested... Since March 31, a real Spring has come to us in the form of Zerinthia Caucasian and other butterflies. I bring to your attention my latest report on hiking trips on March 31, April 1 and 4 with a new folding net made in the Czech Republic... It's actually a pretty good net. Especially pleased with the fabric against thorns and after no puffs. All suggestions please write in PM. Dear colleagues!!! Please excuse me, but the Z. caucasica butterflies are no longer available, everyone is already occupied, to be honest, I did not expect that they would be in such high demand. If I'd known, I'd have caught more... But never mind, their summer season is still on.
