What does the real thing mean? What kind of view is so overseas and non-Ukrainian? And the imago is also this color? This can only happen in the tropics imho. Are you kidding your grandfather, young people?..))

Then Pan has a blue Lynza instead of photoshop. I've been telling him for a long time to try editing colors in post-processing, but he's afraid of Photoshop, and he doesn't know any free programs. I suspect that that filly actually had a color closer to pink, which is quite common.

The usual July heat wave was established in the area of +30. The rains are forgotten, the ground is cracked, the mushrooms are dried up on the vine.

Even all the many meters of Pan's focusing distance didn't help him sneak up on either cryptoheilus or batozonelus, and get a picture that could at least identify the genus.

We finally have a typical July weather - up to +33 in the afternoon, sunny, dry. Although it is too late for plants: everywhere meadow and forest species thrive, and a few steppe specimens are lost in their thickets. A new wave of hornet attacks on the nests of polistov has begun, this time without any shortage, working hornets of a fresh brood, being one and a half times larger than the June ones, do not leave polistov a single chance, completely eating out the brood in one morning or one evening. And it is in the mornings and evenings (mainly after sunset) that they fly after sunset mostly. They are afraid of the heat of the day, as it turned out, not a single one can be seen at noon. Polistas were not so lucky this year - due to a strong delay in starting families and raising workers, the future founders have not yet appeared in any nest. At the time of the hornets ' devastation last year, half of the families had managed to produce a large number of reproductive specimens, which is obviously largely responsible for the unprecedented abundance of nests laid this spring. If we were to remove hornets from our fauna, we would probably have a polist nest on every blade of grass. As it is, the two species lead a miserable existence, always teetering on the brink of extinction, and dominulas that have just adapted to nest in anthropogenic shelters breed in huge numbers. And vespula, they are generally like dirt this year, and vulgaris is even more Germanic.

Today is the last day of summer. Exactly before the start of the mythical vacation. +27. There's only rain ahead, rain and rain around the clock.
Somewhere from Thursday last week, the summer weather was as beautiful as it is possible for us, namely, it was dry, without rain!
Last weekend I went fishing too, met a grasshopper larva, which, due to the improvement of the weather, managed to grow and chatter.

And today I visited Yegorin's place, there were a lot of acrids,I caught 2 ruspolia,a female and a male, both imagos, and also found the remains of a large acrids, the length of which was 7 and a half centimeters.

05.08.2017 0:58, ИНО

Perhaps today can be called the first truly hot day of the summer. During the day it was +34 with almost complete calm, when I left balka (ten minutes to nine in the evening), the temperature dropped only to 27, while in previous times it was less than 20 (there the area is special with very cold nights). Steppe and meadow vegetation, hitherto lush and green, very quickly began to fade and dry out. Raspberries were baked right on the twigs, the word "mushrooms" only gives rise to nostalgic memories. The reduction in daylight hours has become very noticeable. But it's for the best: soon it will be possible to catch the bus to the morning dawn in time.

There were a lot of German wasps, they overtook the number of vulgaris and polistov combined. They fly everywhere, everyone gets confused to taste it. But the most forage (in terms of carbohydrates) are occupied by polistami, and they drive the germanic plants that get hooked in the tail and in the mane. It is noteworthy that even male dominulas quite easily defeat germanic workers, who, by the way, have almost reached their maximum size. And females - so in general in a split second. After repeatedly beating the germanium, it even stops trying to sit on the inflorescence occupied by the leaf. Here it is-Panov's pinnacle of wasp evolution, the only thing that it does well: to produce darkness and darkness of workers with a relatively modest exhaust of future founders. Oh, if polistes could nest underground, they would probably drive vespulas out of our region altogether.

Today, at the very noon, I ran out into the gully. It was something: Africa is natural. No. 90% of the grassy vegetation was burned out. The most interesting thing is that the variety of insects in the steppe part was very modest: almost exclusively polistes and no more than five bee species from the hymenoptera. There is even more variety at sunset. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of a female Cerceris tuberculata, but in the end I only saw one male, and then only briefly. It is surprising that for all my life I have not seen a single female yet, as if males fly to Panova kapustnaya Balka on dates to Mykolaiv region. Vespulas in such weather generally smoke bamboo in their nests - I didn't find any, either on the flowers or at the watering hole, here's another flaw of the pan "superosa" - it lacks "heat resistance". But in all three types of polistov, this is just fine: there were more of them on the flowers than all the other insects combined, and I didn't meet anyone else on the bank of the stream (although in cooler weather there are often sceliphrons and eumenes flying in for dirt). In the forest, things were much more fun with insects: a lot of different bees, eumenines, butterflies (there were even pathos!) huge clouds of babblers, even one vespula in a particularly shaded area slipped through. But there were no hornets even there, apparently, they have now completely switched to the twilight foraging mode, which is very good for the remaining open nests of polistov: in the dark, they may not even be able to see. So far, not a single family on my property has fallen victim to hornets since the beginning of the heat wave. Summer of moths on my window lamps, by the way, also since the beginning of the heat is not at all, although before it was massive. I used to think that the warmer the better for them, but things turned out to be more complicated. Summing up the above, we can draw an unambiguous conclusion: Panov's "life-giving" Southern Ukrainian podsorokovniki are destructive for our Russian nature.

P.S. I didn't erase the last photo on purpose, remembering the subtle tastes of Pan Stepovoi - let him enjoy it.

Everything is clear with the maculates: they spend a stormy youth in our country and fly away to Panov's places to die smile.gif

And why would I want to burst? The wasps in the pictures are all not ours - it's like looking at photos from trips to the tropics. No, it's much cooler in the tropics. And they take much better pictures of them. I, meanwhile, knocked up our local wasps great, it's a pity that only with a camera, because when viewing the footage, it turned out that some of them had to be caught. For example, I still don't understand what kind of dyscelia it is:

______2017_649.jpg

As if, and not on zonalis, and not on dufourii, but something in between them or in general some third species. Although males-they are very variable companions in terms of color, and in this picture, except for it, nothing can be made out. I didn't have time to do anything else - the os flew away very quickly.

It got colder to +30 during the day and +22 at night. The number of wasps and bees on the flowers has increased dramatically, a lot of interesting things come across (although nothing big and ugly). Especially great is the species richness of spangles, today 7 or 8 species at once photographed in one place. Hornets and vespulas have returned to a normal "working day". Also, the nocturnal flight of all sorts of butterflies into the world has resumed, with phaneropters and ant lions flying with them. Vespula vulgaris, on the other hand, has almost stopped coming. They probably used to forage in the dark because they were afraid of the heat of the day, but now they began to spend the night in the nest as they should.

The heat subsided, but it was only half the trouble, the second half - a drought. But it not only did not go anywhere, but also increased due to the strengthening of the wind. The earth is like tinder, the vegetation is rapidly drying up. Bluegolovnik promises to fade prematurely, kermeka is not enough (this year about 1/3 of the plants bloomed).

Again, the heat began to arrive, although not to such a terrible level as at the beginning of the month: if you take a liter of water with you, you can wander for five hours in the midday heat without much risk of sunstroke. Which is exactly what I've been doing for the past few days. Naturally, not just like that, but by conducting research and simultaneously taking Mega-photos (TM). Alas, the female tuberculate was not alone and did not get caught, although there are quite a lot of males. Discelius didn't see it either. In general, I came to the conclusion that there is not much to do in my Megastep (TM) in the afternoon hours. You can't get close to the nests of polistov-they will pinch you, and on the umbrella flowers - all the same polistov with rare inclusions of different bees. By the way, it's strange how Pan Stepovoi managed to find a blue head that wasn't completely covered with polistami, we don't have any of them (except for the faded ones). Apparently, for some reason, Panov's places on Polistov are less productive than ours, which is strange: there is almost no hornet there. Here in the hemispheres of Kermek broadleaf, which this year is very small, the variety of insects will be more, including in terms of rarities. But the most powerful-on the inflorescences of invasive goldenrod Canadian, overgrown in abandoned vegetable gardens, there is, perhaps, only scolium and cerceris tuberculate. It turns out that not only does it harm local ecosystems, but also benefits-a notable non-cat and pollen plant. We don't have a lot of it, only in vacant lots it comes across, the steppe is too big for it, but near Kiev in the meadows there is just a sea stretching as far as the eye can see. The native vegetation there couldn't even come close to paying such bribes at this time of year. In theory, there should be a significant increase in the productivity of bee colonies in recent decades.
