in Moscow, on Izmailovskaya Street http://www.labtex.net/contacts.html although after the recent stremnovato with bottles of EA on the subway shied away, they can lynch, although from the click of only two stations, if my sclerosis does not change a kilogram bottle 2 years ago cost something about 150 rubles, right now probably 250 rubles, but I think it's not more expensive than pyatihatki

And why guess when a search on this site immediately gives 1l=198 rublessmile.gif, however, there is also for 23.33 euros, but this is probably for special aesthetes...

There is expensive ethyl acetate, high chemical purity, for chemical analysis. So, we bought 1 liter for 22 UAH, and there are also 200 UAH.

Look at the Savinsky highway we have a kind of house 10 (against the women's consultation red brick house), in the household they have an assortment of solvents of twenty types probably, I recently" Galoshes " there took and something tupanul all did not look it may well be EA

Thanks! Today I'll take a look there (I live on Pionerskaya Street) smile.gif

Don't forget to unsubscribe the result

Unsubscribe: Guys, there is no EA and never was (I asked the sellers). Yes, and the construction market I climbed all (in Purshevo)"they don't even know what it is. Conclusion: you will have to look for this case in stores selling chemical reagents (Izmailovo, entomon, etc.) .

I would like to inform those who wish-my friend in the company for the sale of chemical reagents has an EA of the HC brand at the price of 180r + VAT in a package of 0.9 kg in plastic bottles. Moscow, tel 6663205, 06, 07.

Where would you like to get some chloroform? I could have sent you a mix of South Russian moths in exchange, or caught something in Primorye in the summer. Or buy it.

17.04.2010 6:10, Morfey

With chloroform? Why don't you use ethyl acetate (ethyl ether of acetic acid)? In my opinion, it is better. In addition, it does not need official papers and, unlike chloroform, it is sold into private hands...

17.04.2010 23:29, Bad Den

I think I had a liter bottle of chloroform... I'll check it out tomorrow.

I can help with solvents, I am located in St. Petersburg, write to us ann@molsp.phys.spbu.ru

20.04.2010 16:52, Konung

can anyone help with ethyl acetate?

21.04.2010 10:22, shu

Comrade from Omsk, you have a wonderful company Omskreaktiv in Siberia-I recently sent an order there. Look up the coordinates of this company in Yandex and call, it seems that they have ethyl acetate.

21.04.2010 10:34, shu

I can also recommend using ethylcellosolv (2-ethoxyethanol)- in terms of volatility, it is almost like ethyl ether and all the properties of ether ,it is not a precursor( sold freely), and costs mere pennies.

And how? did you get anything? When I called them, they said that they do not work with private individuals.

23.04.2010 9:47, shu

Konung, I was delivering my own reagent to Omskreaktiv, so I didn't know that they don't work with private individuals. I'll try to help you. How much ethyl acetate do you need and do you agree to pay for the delivery of ethyl acetate by courier? I will send the solvent from St. Petersburg . Write to us ann@molsp.phys.spbu.ru , let's discuss the details.

What exactly are you interested in? Unfortunately, I am not a biologist, but a chemist, so I can only tell you about the chemical properties of ethylcellosol, and it seems to me that for soaking you just need to buy some and try it, perhaps the result will suit you.

23.04.2010 10:12, shu

Can I tell you more about it?

Ethylcellosolv is a colorless combustible liquid with a weak glycol or alcohol smell and low viscosity. It has characteristic chemical properties for ethers and ethylene glycol. For some time it was used only for dissolving enamels and lacquers based on cellulose esters. Later, ethylcellosolv became more widely used due to its exceptional solubility, which makes it possible to mix alcohols, glycols, diethyl ether, acetone, chloroform and other organic solvents even at room temperature. In combination, it provides mixing with water of substances that are incapable of this in an independent form.Often ethylcellosolv is used as a solvent or is part of mixed solvents for removing old paint coatings, deposits, for dry cleaning of clothing and as a degreaser. It is a textile auxiliary substance, used in the pharmaceutical industry, and is a part of mixtures for leather finishing. Makes up to 10% of the mass of de-icing fluids intended for windshields. Its toxic effect is similar to ethylene glycol. Stable when stored in an airtight container.

Can you really buy merkoptans???

Can you really buy merkoptans???

Of the mercaptans, only 2-methoxybenzenethiol is available . Aldrich, vacuum packed, 2g. Bought a long time ago, but since the reagent is imported and in a sealed container, there is a chance that it is alive.

Apparently, the idea is not new, but still: is there any data on the use of natural and industrial insecticides in stains? At first, I was interested in pyrethroids - but they are subject to photo-oxidation - they decompose in light and therefore cannot be used in the field. And others - phosphorus-and sulfur-containing ones are probably dangerous for humans.

And I thought about all this because I have infections May beetles were soaked in ethyl acetate stain for 30 minutes if not more, then they lay in the refrigerator on the top shelf for a night (almost a freezer), I bring them home-shavelyutsa!

On the weekend I want to go to the forest for ground beetles, barbels, etc. and just don't know what to do-bugs, advise! mol.gif smile.gif

Ethyl acetate "works" for 5+. Apparently, the problem with your stain is "undercharged" or that confused.gifBugs of the size of Maysky are reliably stained in 40-60 minutes. Here with elephants, chernotelkami there are troubles-tenacious, devils.

The lid may still fit poorly, and the EA is volatile (I use a cork lid in the old-fashioned way and process it with paraffin from time to time).

By the way, glass cans of Moccona coffee are not bad for staining.
picture: 1_Moccona_Black_Label.gif
Their cork is "ground" glass with a plastic bottom (inside the cork is hollow). A hole is cut in the bottom of the cork, and cotton wool is inserted there, which is wetted with ethyl acetate. The stopper provides sufficient closure density, and strips of filter paper are placed in the jar, as usual, to eliminate excessive humidity. Cotton wool in the cork is wetted with ethyl acetate as needed. Convenient, practical, and economical. Banks come in different capacities - it is not difficult to choose according to your needs.

I use such a jar for storing bulk products for soaking. The lid in them is rubberized, the stain remains in effect for up to two weeks, or even more (checked). On top of the cone is hollow, I stuff it with cotton wool, fill it up and go ahead. The design of the can negates the contact of cotton wool and material. VERY convenient. There are all possible sizes - from 0.25 to 1 liter.

Vessel: an ordinary medical jar (thick glass).
Cork: from an old liter Chinese thermos flask (in Soviet times there were such) made of natural cork.

Sorry for the dilettante question. And what is the technology of soaking, say, butterflies? With the help of a net, you can catch it. And then what? How to kill her without damaging her wings? If the butterfly is held down by a cloth in the net, then what happens next? How to carefully place it in a jar of poison? Are there any sprays to spray and kapets?

19.05.2010 16:27, london

no usually butterflies do not need a stain when it is pressed in a net, it can be carefully but at the same time tightly squeezed at the middle back and it is more or less localized then it must be placed in a triangular envelope and in a box, so it remains intact and relatively unscathed

19.05.2010 16:36, Victor Titov

Well, yes, diaries can be squeezed. But usually "babochniki" prick through the fabric of the net with a syringe with an ammonia solution.

Well, even if you manage to put a butterfly in an envelope, what's next? Wait for her to starve to death or something? or should I put this envelope together with the butterfly somewhere?

It's clear. A solution of ammonia... that is, they didn't invent any splashes...

Well, starvation doesn't bother her anyway. When squeezed, the diary will either die from its injuries, or even if the lady is still alive on arrival, it is a very humane way to put the insect in the freezer. Hypothermia will do its job, and somewhere in half an hour or an hour you can safely get out and spread but be careful, supercooled butterflies are as fragile as dry so give them 5-10 minutes to freeze
off luck

small and medium-sized moths are soaked in ethyl acetate stain.

20.05.2010 15:19, london

And from squeezing the appearance will not spoil the butterfly? or will it be necessary to restore the body in some way later?

no, it does not spoil because chitin, like plastic, has the property of preserving its shape. The main thing is not to overdo it, in a prative case you risk leaving all the contents of the butterfly on socke
