Perhaps it is worth mentioning the recently published picture book on the genus Catocala. The book is Japanese in every sense. The printing industry is excellent.

Fredrik Sheberg
The Malaise Trap, or About the happiness of living in captivity of an unusual passion about flies and quirks

Description
Lucy, the heroine of Lewis ' The Chronicles of Narnia, once had the good fortune to read a spell story called "How to Purify and Please the Soul." The girl immediately forgot the plot, but since then she liked only the same bright and kind books. There are very few of them in general, especially in modern literature, but "The Trap of Malaise, or about the happiness of living in the captivity of an unusual passion, about flies and the vagaries of fate" is the rarest example of a work of this kind. In form, this is an ironic and autobiographical story about the ability to read nature and the psychology of the collector. Fredrik Schoeberg, a connoisseur and lover of babbling flies, writes the story of the life, discoveries and adventures of another Swedish entomologist, Rene Malez (1892-1978). He is famous for many of his discoveries and expeditions, including to Kamchatka, although today his name is associated primarily with a trap of a special design that he invented. In fact, the "Malaise Trap — is a cure for fatigue, depression and joylessness. This book has received many awards in Sweden, is regularly reprinted and translated into German, French, Spanish, Norwegian and other languages.

A soulful book and a kind of exclusive. Although while reading in the back of my mind all the time rushes the thought-how far we are from the mental torment of a well-off Swedish fan of sirfid. However, I strongly recommend it to everyone. It will be very good to read to the younger generation - especially those who are embarrassed to get a net in public-and then suddenly they will think or say something bad.

By the way, yes, the book is not scientific. The key word in my phrase was "later" - for three reasons:
1) the circulation is small-even if the publishing house will work, not for longcool.gif;
2) I bought a book (and it is worth buying an entomologist) - there is an opportunity to give it to a friend in misfortune to read wink.gif;
3) lack of time (I will not hide it) mol.gif.

Ulf is currently in a very difficult situation with the health of some of his family members. Answers are very long and short. But Ulf is a German, make no mistake - the number will be released on time.

"Russian" arithmetic (mathematics): 2 x 2 = how many hours.
Science is one of the phenomena of world (but not national) culture. National culture "osnovyvayetstsa" in the national language. The language of science (almost any) is not a national one, but - "your own" - a scientific one.
A Japanese chemist who does not know French will (more or less successfully) solve a "chemical problem" based on the" hints " of a French chemist (who does not know Japanese). Is that true?
In Russia there were Russian chemists Mendeleev, Butlerov and others, but there was no "Russian chemistry" and there is no such thing...
This...nu (pra "Russian science")" Russian " Georgian (Stalin) invented (well, almost...) .

A fresh Colias ledger reached me

[attachmentid()=142782]

[attachmentid()=142783]

The book is enclosed in a dust jacket. The impression of the book is twofold:
- as a guide to the taxonomy of the genus, God forbid to use it. It is often unclear what guides the authors in their systematic constructions, but crowning all their systematic gibberish is a "Systematic" list of species, which in fact is alphabetical - in this vein, it is not at all clear whether the authors know in principle what a system is in zoology and how to build it. I got the impression that the book was written almost exclusively by Y.Grieshuber (taxman, by the way), in B. Worthy helped in the search for types (insurer, by the way). G. Lamas, as I understood it, "reduced" the nomenclature. Unfortunately, in complex nomenclature issues, he is not an adviser, which is indicated at least by the priority of tamerlana over mongola.
- the nomenclature of names is correct in most cases, but in some cases it is natural nonsense. This mainly applies to names whose publication dates are "close", as well as little-known taxa.
- genital signs are persistently not used, philately is flourishing.
- attempts to show distribution on poorly informative maps, especially for local species.
"the public isn't attracted at all.
+ almost all types of Palearctic jaundice have been found and mostly depicted, and many typical localities have been clarified. However, again-part of it is erroneous. But this is already fixable.
+ summarized data on the movements of a number of collections, especially little-known ones.
Actually, these are the only 2 advantages.

In general, the impression that Mr. Lamas is playing the role of "wedding general" in this book is growing stronger from page to page.

Yes, here is the famous Grieshuber - for many "post-Soviet" (and not only) - a great authority on egg yolks. It is rather difficult to call the presented fragment of the book" taxonomy".
