Ribbon boxes for wine and braga even fly in the breeze during the day.At night, less drunk people stay on the drip leak, more drunk people sit on neighboring trunks with red eyes.

Whichever one you get. But horse is preferable. The size depends on your imagination.

bait-fresh droppings, trap-shovel. by the way, we have a spiniger flying in the Tambov region right now, and a baikalikus in the summer. I wonder what other places are like?

In early September, I set up a butterfly trap. I filled the bottom of a plastic 5-liter bottle with the remains of mash and hung it on a tree in the forest. Then for two weeks there was no opportunity to check the bait. As a result, when I got to it, the mash at the bottom turned into a mess of scoops, tapeworms, hornets and flies on which corpse-eaters, murtoveds, and staphylins were safely crawling. Despite the stinky smell, I had to collect beetles instead of butterflies.

and what do you think, if a piece of meat(chicken) is put instead of mash, the effect will be?

I think so! Good for dead eaters and gravediggers. You can also use dead mice and frogs by throwing them to the bottom of the bottle, but for the result to be achieved, it must take time for the meat to turn out and an unpleasant cadaverous smell appears.

For dead eaters, in the Tver region I put containers with chicken meat, they were perfectly caught. The main thing is that crows do not steal, they do it very well. I also wanted to try, but my hands did not reach, to pierce the egg, and in the jar, this is for a cleaner removal of dead eaters.

You are an aspiring sadist! Why do you hate butterflies so much?

On the contrary, I love them. Therefore, I asked earlier in this topic how to build a zhivolovka, seeing how butterflies quickly become unusable. In the end, I started using penicillin bubbles with mash dug into the sawdust at the bottom of the bottle. I'll report the results in a few days.

for a long time I want to try (I came up with it myself, but I saw analogs on the web) a trap for caprophages: dig in a bucket, a large grid on top, so that copra or geotrup can get through, maybe even a reed type (so that they can dig hard), and a "flat cake"on top. maybe someone tried this?

I had a couple of coprovs in the spring, lived in a plastic bowl, so to speak, covered with 2 layers of gauze, and still managed to escape, one was found, and the second..either he flew away or he died somewhere on the balcony(

So I don't know if you can keep them in the bucket, because if they can get through the net, they can get out

We must go. In general, the more diverse the bait, the more different species will arrive. Some species generally fly to rotten mushrooms, some prefer only large corpses, they do not exchange for small things like a piece of chicken meat and a mouse.

if you love them, then just smear the trees with braga and look at them all night. who needs to be caught, but why make a mess / mass grave?
the bucket is ordinary (how much it is 8-10 liters), but you can also use a half bucket. I'm not going to put them in the clearing, but I'm going to bury them. I do not know those who want to dig or step on a "cake" (among ordinary mortals), but mushroom pickers can also be under the root...the main thing is to check constantly, because many beetles do not stay in place for a long time.
As a collector
, I do not intend to keep copra, especially in a bowl (see Fabre). and from the bucket they will not go anywhere, even after 2-3 days. and now I remember that there must be a layer of earth there, so that they have a place to turn around. and then all the staffs, ontofaguses and others are mine! they won't be able to get out.

In the summer, I tried smearing braga on trees, but for 2 hours nothing came, instead I became a bait for mosquitoes. Well, in the fall, it's dark and cold, and you still have to get home at night.

In vain pinned (Ruined!) Velleius dilatatus, you'd better let him go.

Yes, there are half of the arriving beetles and so escaped. I disdain to take them with my hands, but I didn't take tweezers with me. They're smelly, and the red ticks are running over them, and they'll crawl over me again. He tossed them into the water, drowned them, then dragged them into a box with a stick and stabbed them with ammonia-laced insulin.

maybe if you add a brew, egg, some meat to them, then someone should get caught

No, you should not mix mash with meat, only you will collect flies) It is better to install everything separately, in different vessels: mash for sweet tooths (butterflies, wasps, beetles that feed on juice), meat, rotten egg - for necrophages, manure - for coprophages.

Velleius dilatatus is a very rare beetle and is not worth being pricked, the beetle is large and it can be glued to the die. But that's what I think, and your beetle is really good, catch more of them. smile.gif

I haven't figured out how to use and mount the dies yet.
It turns out that this beetle is in our regional red list. A total of 5 copies were registered in the republic. They write that the larva feeds on dead hornets. Beetles are attracted to the leaking oak sap and the insects that live on it.
I throw out hornets, but it turns out that they can be used as bait.

Information about the great rarity of Velleius dilatatus is somewhat exaggerated. Probably, the generally accepted opinion about the rarity is due to the secretive lifestyle of the beetle and the fact that it almost does not come across by chance. This is a trans-palearctic species, which is found in Central Russia everywhere (including in localities) where there are large Vespa species. Regularly arrives at the light. It is not uncommon in soil traps with vinegar-alcohol bait (in my collections from the Nizhny Novgorod region to the south of Primorye).

Solidary. Every season, at least 1 yes falls into traps.

mmm... in Indonesia, what is optimal for catching daytime butterflies? advised on carrion, etc. But somehow you can't take carrion with you=) And something will fly on honey+water+yeast? Or do you need something special?

02.10.2011 17:41, Black Coleopter

Carrion is made on the spot (fish, meat, etc., etc.) for sweets-joy should also fly.

P. S. Joys

Again I will splash myself in a glass of pinkish muck
Again it will replace me in all sexual joys

For V. S. In any area, especially in the fall, when new foxes are exploring the world and nature, the production of everything that can be eaten disappears very quickly.

he does not disdain the cheapest beer, by the way; and a fact from his secretive lifestyle: he once encountered a dozen beetles (rather 8-9 pcs.) on an oozing old willow tree.

http://ukrainefiherman.at.ua/index/mormysh/0-44 in general, gammarus is now sold in fishing shops - as bait. water donkeys - in any place of the reservoir inhabited by them are very common (squatted down near the water - with a dozen in sight immediately turns out-take it and catch it just with your fingers), if there is an unfrozen reservoir nearby-I think it makes sense to look there.

in stores (in my city), only dried bread is sold. and in the pond I looked, in the spring there were many, but now I didn't find any

Use a net for water fishing. And comb them through the pond closer to the bottom and you will be happy. yes.gif
