August 27, 2019, trip to the decay of the village of Kalinino, Kholmsky district, Sakhalin. The goal is to collect Pieris pseudonapi Verity, 1911, which is where the females of this species are particularly large. We managed to catch only 4 individuals. Butterflies are few, more pleased with the arrival of chum salmon in the river.

The result of collecting whiteflies is deplorable, but most importantly: large whiteflies turned out to be Pieris melete Menetries, 1857, a species noted for the island only by Japanese entomologists. In Vladivostok, too, Pieris melete caught, so there is something to compare. The lower one from Kalinino is doubtful.

These were assigned to Pieris pseudonapi Verity, 1911. The lowest version, second generation. The top two are also in doubt, although I probably shouldn't doubt it.

Phyllonorycter ermani (Kumata, 1963). It is widespread in Sakhalin, the Southern Kuril Islands, and the Irkutsk region. So with such a gap in the range, neighboring regions with the specified regions can also search for this species at home. Forage plant-Alnus maximowiczii and Betula ermanii (Betulaceae), for the Irkutsk region-Alnus alnobetula ssp. fruticosa.

Summer time on the southwestern coast of Sakhalin - late August-early September, individual specimens. in early October.

Ph. similis Kumata, 1982. It was removed on 26.11.2020 from lower-crown folded mines on oak leaves collected on 25.09.2020 in the vicinity of the village. Pioneers of the Sakhalin region.
Out of 10 collected mines, 2 butterflies came out. Thank you for your tips on breeding.

For the first time I found a caterpillar of a bindweed hawk moth right in the city center on the road 2.10.2020. Pupated on October 10, imago Agrius convolvuli 26.11.2020. The butterfly is the smallest caught on Sakhalin.

November 7, 2020. In the search for moths, it was planned to find a tree plier. It is not included in the Red Book, but I haven't seen this vine since childhood. But I was looking for it. It grows in the Sakhalin region along the coasts and on sea terraces of the Kholmsky and Nevelsky districts, on the Kuril Islands.

The final find of 2020. And a very long-awaited one. At the very end of a two-hour walk.

The species is recorded in South Sakhalin and Japan.
The second discovery on Sakhalin.

Dear men, I congratulate you on Defender of the Fatherland Day!
Be the protection and reliable support of your family and our wonderful molbiol.
I can only give you a story. So, looking through the determinant, every time I stumbled over the image of baggies, namely, my eyes stopped on neat covers in grains of sand. But they are not marked for Sakhalin according to the determinant and the latest catalogues. Memories came up from my childhood, so in 2019, I visited the most frequently visited places of that time in the fall. Last year, I realized that I saw the covers when I was in kindergarten. I remember exactly when my parents were talking to friends, and I would stand aside and stare at the strange bags of sand moving around, which shimmered in the sun. It was in the green area near my former kindergarten that I found Dahlica sp trihedral covers at the end of October. Left to spend the winter at home on the windowsill. Now I'm worried if the heat is too much for them.
Unfortunately, photos are not attached today.

How did you manage to fill in the file names without filling in the actual files? I and all other users have been unable to do either for six months now.

The presence of eggs is not yet evidence of parthenogenesis. Now, if one of them hatches, then yes.

PS Oh, the files themselves loaded-a miracle! jump.gif

Last Sunday, I was lucky enough to walk through a whole glade of two-leafed Gray. I've only seen single flowers before. Island endemic: distributed in the Sakhalin region and Japan. The root is interesting: each round increment is a year of life. Under the rain, the petals can become transparent, so Gray's two-leafed flower is also called a crystal flower.

May is cold. Usually cherry trees are already happy on May 9, and this year only four days of heat from 19 to 23 pushed them to bloom. And immediately the first this year Aglia japonica Leech, [1889] 1888.
