Greetings! Help me identify the bug. Found on a horizontal protruding tile, near the bathroom faucet (1st floor, Moscow), lying without visible signs of life. The approximate size is 2.5-3 mm.
What can be mistaken for the beetle's long whiskers (pictured) is most likely the fibers of the wet cloth on which it lies (it was moved there, so to speak, for a photo session).

This is something from the synanthropic Latridiidae, probably from the genus Dienerella, or rather only with a specimen. They feed on mold fungi and are not dangerous to humans.

Thanks! The main thing is that they are not dangerous. Well, apparently, they are (similar, judging by the photos in Google)

Stauropus caterpillar probably. At khokhlatok in general, they are quite interesting...

Hi! Please tell us what kind of insect is this? Found in the bathroom. The first photo is near the junction of the tile and the bathroom itself, photos 2 and 3-today, on the protruding part of the tile (another beetle was also found there, which I posted above). I suspect it's a hay eater. Is it so?

Posted photos are not as I described. In short, in the middle of yesterday's photo (I write about it in the text, as about the first photo-it is called "zhuk_vchera")
and today's photos turned out here under numbers 1 and 3, here. If it turns out that these are still hay eaters, then the question immediately arises: should we expect them to continue moving beyond the bathroom to the rest of the apartment?

Exactly so! yes.gif

Unlikely.

Dmitrich, thank you! But I wonder if the appearance of these hay eaters is associated with the onset of the spring-summer period (and warming)? the fact is that there was nothing like this in the winter... and another question - can they bounce, because these beetles in the bathroom jump away (like collemballs). You can somehow fight them (by special means) - or is it useless?

Hay eaters are not beetles. Here are the links, you can also "Google"them yourself:

This is a cute bedbug. But do not be alarmed - not from those, not from bed, not dangerous to a person at all! There are many of them, different bedbugs (read the link at your leisure: http://www.floranimal.ru/orders/2723.html ) I got into your Home completely by accident. How to get rid of it? He's not happy frown.gifabout being an uninvited guest himself. His place is in the wild. Release in peace.

there are so many of them, and that they multiply quickly, they are already crawling (and even flying) all over the apartment. Are you sure it's that harmless bug? Can you tell me what it's called?

17.07.2012 23:26, Aleksandr Ermakov

A bug from the family Lygaeidae. There are no species that threaten human health in this group. Probably you have a food plant growing under the window of these well-flying bedbugs.

I'm sure he's harmless to you. In your apartment, they definitely do not multiply, apparently, they fly from the street. Up to the type of your bug you can determine the specialists here in this topic - http://molbiol.ru/forums/index.php?showtopic=155393 . And in general, read it, for sure you will find your guest.

There are too many of them, there are grids on the windows and balcony, it's not clear where they come from. They may not be pests ,but they are very unpleasant

20.07.2012 0:52, Patriot123

Somehow abruptly, in two days, hundreds of insects appeared around the lamp on the ceiling. On the windows of the grid-it seems that they should not get through the window... Insects ranging in size from 0.1 mm to 1-1. 5 mm. More than 1.5 mm - no, and then such large parachka. basically everything is about 0.5 mm. Judging by the photos - there is a wide variety of them, some sit, some jump, some twitch fly and land. Maybe these are some kind of parasites and they need to be poisoned with something? So far, I only save myself with a vacuum cleaner, but after 15 minutes they start accumulating again from somewhere... Here are the photos. The quality is not very good, as they are too small. If you look at the eye , they're all the same. What to do and how to get rid of them?

Good morning! Help me identify another strange instance. It was found on the windowsill, before that there were already a couple of such things in the same place, only larger and darker in color.

1) Insects definitely fly from the street to the light-the mesh of grids on the windows allows them to enter the apartment due to their small size.
2) There are no" parasites " among them - in your photos there are diptera (flies and mosquitoes - mostly non-blood-sucking) and cicadas.
3) It is necessary to put new grids with the smallest possible mesh, eliminating the slightest gaps around the perimeter of the windows. Or (if the penetration of insects is more annoying than stuffiness, and the darkness does not bother) do not open windows or turn on lighting devices. The third is not given.
4) If you poison, then, firstly, not only insects, but also yourself (all means such as dichlorvos are harmful to humans); secondly, destroy only those that have penetrated, and this will not save you from the penetration of new insects flying to the light in your home.

Similar to the larvae of skin-eating beetles (Dermestidae) from the genus Anthrenus.

Hello, I will be very grateful to anyone who can help me understand and find out what this insect is. Unfortunately, the photo is not very high-quality, but it arrives to me for several weeks on the balcony, climbs into the cracks doing something there, then flies away, and the other one also arrives and immediately climbs into the closet and also does something there and flies away. And once I closed the window, and she was banging on that glass, like she was having a panic attack. The color is almost black when flying very much like a wasp, but the head is larger than the wasp, and the body is longer at the end. This is the first time I've seen this. And they fly very fast.

Hello everyone! Help me determine who it is and how to deal with it? In the bathroom, an invasion of some white insects 1-3mm in size, do not jump, but just move in a chaotic direction all the time. As soon as I noticed them, I washed everything with damestos, after two hours everyone was already sitting in their placesfrown.gif, Towels with beetles were taken out on the balcony, after half an hour everyone died. Maybe someone knows how to deal with them? It's creepy to go to the bathroom, they go everywhere weep.gif

Hello! I don't know much about insects. Recently, I started finding flying beetles with red and black carapaces on the balcony. I don't know how they make their way, probably through small cracks, because the balcony is glazed, but wooden. At first, I caught them, killed them, or threw them away, but now they've bred, you can't catch them all, even if they're already stuck on fly tape. On the balcony there are ficus and hibiscus trees. Please tell me who they are, how they are dangerous for humans and plants, what to do?

2) These beetles are herbivorous, but your houseplants (as well as you personally) they are not dangerous (they usually feed on the seeds of woody plants).
3) They definitely fly to your balcony from the street. What to do? Either just wait for their mass release to end, or eliminate the slightest cracks-gaps around the perimeter of the balcony frame, at its sashes, do not open the windows (you know, this is almost impossible). Calm down! There is no threat to your health and your indoor plants!

Thanks for the answer! It is good that they are not harmful. But just in case, I hung another sticky tape for flies in another corner, maybe I can catch them, although they like to sit more than fly). And I noticed that they get bored mostly in the first half of the day, when the sun shines on the balcony and they get out to bask in the sun, then disappear somewhere)).

Elizar, thank you for the second serious answer :- ) and can you advise me what to do with them, I this morning for the first time heard that in those places where they are supposed to have nests, you can hear a buzz! this is terrible! and do you think it's realistic to just leave them to grow up and fly away on their own, or will they still come back?

Started up in the kitchen, periodically find them in the sink and in dirty dishes, from sweets. Sometimes in the bathroom. They are small, easy to choke with your fingers, they are many ((IMG_9302.JPG

This is the Surinamese flour-eating beetle (Oryzaephilus surinamensis). Check your supplies of flour, cereals, etc. Read it: http://www.zashitamax.narod.ru/Company.files/mukoed_sur.htm .
