And spring has come to us! Finally, we have established a warm weather so far (I don't know what will happen next). I got tired of sitting around doing nothing, so today I went to Shilova Balka.

Central part of the beam:

There was a small clearing of these flowers (so far I'm not an expert in flowers), the admiral was feeding on them, but flew away without participating in the photo shoot:

And then it went somehow uninteresting. The relatively wet lands have run out, and with them-flowers. Butterflies were rare and did not want to sit down. fly turnip/rutabaga (did not look closely) and mignonette belyanka. It's windy. But there is still a very significant part of the beam ahead.

In general, I went a little further, and decided to go back.

Beautiful... Wait, it's a tick, right?

I met a caterpillar that knows how to pretend to be dead:

Well, I also walked a little in the center near the water with willows. Twice I saw a fox, as well as field horses, which could not be photographed, due to their mobility.

I also saw ktyrei flies, all sorts of midges that look like blood-eating mosquitoes, only larger in size, a black-bodied moth, a few scoops and a moth of Lythria purpuraria.

In general, I congratulate everyone on the spring!!!

Wave Storm, but there on the fifth photo is a plant, hyacinthella, there were many of them? And what is the extent of the area with them? These are good plants! But here's what the Adonis don't have, I wonder..

06.04.2013 21:57, Wave Storm

Unfortunately, there was a small area of all these flowers compared to the entire gully, mainly near the water (in the area of the hotel-cafe "Okhotny Khutorok", for example smile.gif). Namely, hyacinthella, as it seemed to me was the most.

If you look at the map: the top two selections - there are hyacinthellas and other flowers. And the third one down there, I think there were only hyacinthella trees on the slope.
And all these flowers love the water as I look.

user posted image

True, in other places of the beam there were many other plants, mostly dry so far. From what I know - wormwood, feather grass-there are a lot of them, and also burdock and mullein were often found.

06.04.2013 22:03, Hierophis

Yes, no, hyacinthellas do not love water, they love b. m. virgin smile.gifland They grow in the absolute steppe where you can crawl to the water ka kdo)))

Good evening!
On Friday, I decided to open the season and took advantage of a one-day trip to the Chernihiv region. It happened from 19: 30 to 21: 30 (then even the butterflies on the screen frozesmile.gif) in the Srebnyansky district, the outskirts of the village of Gurbentsy, ur.Lobodernoe. This is a small abandoned garden in front of the forest. It was wet, dirty, and cold, but that didn't stop him. I decided to try out the Entosphinx construction as well, along with my own. For the European design, I used a 20 Amh battery and two 15 W fluorescent white Philips ultraviolet lamps used specifically for insect traps. I'll be honest - I'm not happy, of course. the structure was installed 70 meters away from mine and did not give any significant results, because only about 10 moths of two species out of the four that arrived that evening flew to it. As for my design, unfortunately, I forgot one of the lamps (250 DRL), which I usually use in conjunction with 125 DRL on different sides of the screen, so I had to catch only 125 DRL. In the first half an hour after turning on the lamp, about 10 people were already located on the screenAnorthoa munda (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) (a total of 15 of them flew in during these two hours), quite interesting, as for me, was the find of Lycia pomonaria (Hübner, 1790) (if it is not difficult, who knows, comment on this find in the Chernihiv region) in the amount of two males, one of which was found in the region of Chernihiv. arrived on ultraviolet lamps and one on DRL, also in the " mass "(somewhere ex. 10) Alsophila aescularia (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) was recorded, Phigalia pilosaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) arrived in the same number, Apocheima hispidaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) was less pampered (in the amount of 3 males), there were also a few scoops of Orthosia(but not very many) cruda (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), incerta (Hufnagel, 1766), populeti (Fabricius, 1775), and cerasi (Fabricius, 1775), as well as three males of Lithophane ornitopus (Hufnagel, 1766) and one male of Lithophane socia (Hufnagel, 1766) and Eupsilia transversa (Hufnagel, 1766). Not a lot, but THE SEASON HAS STARTED jump.gif

Good evening!
On Friday, I decided to open the season and took a day trip to Chernihiv region.

And why is the generator on a high chair, or is there absolutely water, and so close to the screen, butterflies can hear well yes.gif smile.gif

And why is the generator on a high chair, or there is absolutely water, and so close to the screen, the butterflies can hear well yes.gif  smile.gif

Very big dirt, the generator is a pity smile.gifAnd what is close - I did not know, I will correct myself, thank you.

Very big dirt, the generator is a pity smile.gifAnd what is close - I did not know, I will improve, thank you.

Butterflies don't care about the noise of the generator, but the catcher himself is not comfortable. I usually drag it about 50 meters away so that I don't get too much banging in my ears.

Wow! Wow, and I didn't believe it, but they sorted everything out, wow, how much work!

If so, and my predictions did not come true, then I just have to post something here )))
And so, the impressions of today's walk are a floral paradise, no less!!!

I have never seen SUCH a thing in all my observations, there are so many flowers everywhere, and some species, such as muscari, hyacinthella, and other species, bloom so massively, and in places where they were not previously seen. But they were clearly there, they just didn't bloom, it turns out. It seems that the heavy snowfall at the end of March and subsequent frosts played a major role in this.. Well, if so, for the sake of SUCH a riot of colors, you can tolerate this snow and frost smile.gif

Whiteflies fly en masse, mostly eduzas, but there are already a lot of turnips. There are also a lot of burdocks, sometimes there are yazykans. There are lots of alenok and chanterelles on the flowers smile.gif

And yesterday I walked around the outskirts of the Dnieper floodplain forests and the deserts there smile.gif
Dressed like summer, and eventually froze completely in the morning, at 6 am it was approx. +5C and maybe lower! It was also overcast in the morning and the sky was occasionally overcast all day.
Compared to the steppe part, the wildlife is much smaller and the flora has not yet developed..

I was back in Sh. Balka yesterday. But I didn't so much climb it as explore one small area. Because this time there was something to see!

Where there was nothing before, a lot of things have appeared!

No, it's a corpse, I got caught in a loop in the winter (as seen in the photo), but the mountain hunter either didn't find the loop at all, or found it late.

I've seen about a dozen dead foxes here, all without any loops, and I've seen a lot of live ones.
All this is alarming, because a lot of foxes= a lot of rabies.
Therefore, you need to remember one rule - if you see that a fox, marten, raccoon dog or badger does not run away when they see you - run away from them yourself smile.gif
Another thing you should never do is wash your hands in non-flowing or low-flowing puddles of water, which are often found in ravines, because there may be life-giving leptospira)

Yesterday I was in the meadows near Kiev. There are few animals, small lizards, spiders, a cricket found only dead, apparently in winter he got out of the hole and froze. I found a huge blackening porkhovka for me, larger than an apple...

Good day to all!
20.04.2013 continued the night fishing season in Chernihiv region, Srebnyansky district, the outskirts of Gurbentsy village, Lobodernoe district (GPS: 50°36 ' 10 "N; 32°5 2' 17 " E). Already in the company with Vis.
It turned out to catch from 21: 00 to 23: 00 (the temperature fluctuated somewhere around +12, at the end a small gusty wind began). Location: a small abandoned orchard on the edge of an oak forest.
I was satisfied, although not enough in quantity, but accurately in quality. Once again confirmed the presence of such species as Apocheima hispidaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Phigalia pilosaria (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) and Lycia pomonaria (Hübner, 1790) in the region, and also found (correct me if I'm wrong) Two other new species are Conistra rubiginea (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775) and Dicranura ulmi (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775). Conistra erythrocephala (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Eupsilia transversa (Hufnagel, 1766), Conistra rubiginosa (Scopoli, 1763), Cerastis rubricosa (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Orthosia miniosa (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Orthosia cerasi (Fabricius, 1775), Orthosia cruda (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Alsophila aescularia (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), several other species of small Geometridae and several species of micro. Maybe I also missed a couple of banal scoops, but that's about it.
I caught on my contruction, on two lamps: DRL 125 W + DRL 250 W, located on different sides of the screen, as always I was satisfied smile.gif
This is the second time I've been to Lobodernoye so early in the season, and the second time it pleasantly surprises me.

Yes, the pictures look beautiful, but somehow it seems that they are not natural, just such saturated colors as from the ad "your picture will come to life" smile.gif

27.04.2013 19:55, Hierophis

And today I took a walk through the local steppe expanses, and where I have not yet walked smile.gif
It was very windy, even too much, and the wind was straight from the sea, cold, there were very few insects, and then in the silence itself, and those that took off on the plain were immediately carried away to an unknown distance ))) but I liked the walk!
Polyxenes are already flying with might and main, tettigonias and verrucivoruses have been hatched, the second wave of flowering has completely passed, only in some places rare adonis are still blooming, and the third wave has not yet begun, so the steppe and slopes do not look as colorful as a week ago, caragana, various astragalus and other plants are blooming, but there is no general aspect from herbs, only from blooming trees.
But even though it was windy, but the smell of steppe grasses was such that all the clothes and everything smelled pleasantly of herbs smile.gif
Despite the fact that the temperature was not higher than +25, I was quite thoroughly tanned and even burned, and 1.5 liters of water ran out at the very exit, so that's all, summer has come)))
The path length is approx. 25 km.
