Andreas, my dear! Well, you shouldn't have done that to the females. You need to be more careful with them, each one has its own approach. After all, at least two out of three offended!

The female shrew was the least lucky... wink.gif

- Do you think that only you have "pieces of summer are born" in your apartments? - Today I came home from work and the first thing I noticed was a "baby" coming out of the pupae collected in the toilet a month and a half ago:
"But the bindweed hawk moth pupa that didn't cool down last winter is still at five - thirty... lol.gif (but it's alive.)

This is not a bindweed hawk moth.

More like a pine tree.

25.12.2009 21:34, Андреас

- What a pine tree on the KMV! eek.gif- I perfectly remember the caterpillar that I found in October! - And it is impossible to confuse it even with lilac, from which it differs at least in the color of a pure black horn! "And the caterpillar was brown." "Not to mention that the lilac ones are very rare here, and they don't occur this late in the caterpillar stage!"

I judge by the Moscow region (I brought out pine more than once), but the fact that this is not a bindweed is a fact!
By the way: here is sosnovy from the Moscow region:

Well, I don't know what you might have. But pine in my opinion is possible (where there is a pine, spruce, etc. there it is) smile.gif.

Andreas, the hawk moth is either pine or lilac - the bindweed has a much larger proboscis cover, wrapped up.

I know the bindweed hawk moth firsthand.

In my humble opinion, your pupa does not look like a bindweed hawk moth pupa.

By the way, in what condition did you find the caterpillar-just before pupation, or did you feed it for some time?

I want to put up some photos of places where I fished in August of this year.
Surroundings of the Uzunkol alpine camp, Karachay-Cherkessia.By the way, you can safely drink water from these rivers directly from the river. SL383181.JPGSL383202.JPGDSC00480.JPGDSC00494.JPG[attachmenti

Hello...
Was, so on holidays in Dagomys (Sochi). - I'll put it bluntly: - there was neither time nor opportunity to get out to climb and crawl. – My next fiancee (who graduated from the biofactory faculty in the first of her three intstitutov) is simply annoyed when I switch my interest from her to the six-legged neighbors...
- It was possible to shoot in the yard, and then, by running: - Shields on the dogwood tree, a winged individual of an ant of unknown appearance and gender that flew out, an ordinary tongue, onaruzheny on a zanoveske in the bedroom.
- And so, in addition to this-on December 31, I only saw the Admiral from the daytime butterflies, and then – once. Some flies, butterflies, spiders on a wild beach During the day the temperature reached 20 degrees in the shade. At night – about 13. Silence. Grace. A lot of things are blooming. I didn't want to leave.

I will also allow myself to attach files from several places. Also Karachay-Cherkessia. Fishing there is not worth it (1 km to the border with the territory near the Caucasus prir. biosphere reserve, judging by the signs), but you can take photos there.
However, the first image is my native places, in the Murmansk region (69 gr. n.), but there are butterflies here (one of the rare days when the temperature was +30, 8.08.07 This happens in these places once a year)
2. Mountain view from the village of Zakan (the village is located at an altitude of approximately 1230 m above sea level)
3. Teschin Zub town, Zakan village (if my memory serves me correctly, the altitude is approximately 3000 m above sea level, maybe less)
4.You know who))
5. Damkhurts River.
6. Mostovaya Polyana village (approximately 930 m above sea level)

Photos of poor quality, as you can see, were taken on a simple digital soap dish. Now I have a semi-professional camera, so the pictures would be much better

As far as I can tell, I also fish in those places, maybe in nature reserves, but I just don't bother about their borders. All around the border zone and except for the border guards, no one checks their documents and they don't say anything about the protected area, although I didn't hide the net in the bushes.By the way, I have a self-made folding one, 50 cm in diameter on a handle from a Chinese podsachnik, telescopic, about 2 m long.

It's just more difficult for me: when I'm in Zakan in the summer, I live in the house of my husband's relatives, who work as huntsmen in the Western territory. I myself can't catch death's head hawks and swallowtails under their noses, etc.)) In addition, I decided for myself in this regard, since trapping is prohibited in nature reserves, it means that I will not catch anything except P. napi, to which I have a research interest, and this is a mass species, my capture is unlikely to undermine its population. The rest of the species I collect for my personal collection (but not on the territory of the nature reserve) or just take pictures. Only 2 families live in the village of Zakan, and there were almost no tourists there before (by the way, in 2006). There were only 6 files on the Internet at the request of S. Zakan!), and in the last 3 years they have constantly come alone and in groups, pitch tents, take a lot of photos (the number of sites, by the way, has increased hundreds of times, and they post very high-quality photos).

Where and what to catch is up to you. However, you can be sure that your capture of Deadhead hawkmoth, Swallowtail and P. napi populations of these species will not only not undermine, but even not cause them any significant harm.
The meaninglessness of a ban on trapping for the vast majority of insect species has already been discussed more than once, including on this forum.

I can argue about the pointlessness of catching many of the majority of insect species in absolutely all points of our country. Only it doesn't make sense, because you're right: each catcher determines the objects of his "hunt" himself, and no arguments matter to him.

Regarding the Death's Head: in my opinion, it doesn't make sense to protect it at all (this is a migrant from Africa)-catch it on your health (if possible).
Swallowtail and Rutabagas are plentiful near Moscow (you don't have to go somewhere in the nature reserve to get them). And the extraction of several copies. it will not cause any harm to nature. Okoem told you absolutely correctly in this regard. You need to protect biotopes!!! Yes, and perhaps enough here (not for this topic).

My short report on a holiday trip to Sochi. Apparently, he was not far from Andreas smile.gif
Most of the time it was partly cloudy with clearings.
picture: sea.jpg
There were four or five sunny days, but it also rained. Temperatures ranged from +9 during rain to +18 on sunny days. In the sun itself, it was very hot, the thermometer showed +26, it was possible to walk in a T-shirt, which I did as much as possiblesmile.gif. This temperature was to the taste of insects, in contrast to Egyptian fillies smile.gif
