How much does this volume cost?
The heterocera website.hu has not yet been updated with the release of the second book in the series. From memory, the cost of the 2nd volume is 126, - euro plus forwarding (107. - euro for subscribers).

Some remarks.
I haven't looked at this post in a long time.
1. You can earn money by publishing books about insects. d'Abrera, Witt, Tschikolovets etc are examples of this. If the author can get 1500 euros from the sale of author's copies , then he should have such an opportunity. Dear Elez is very right. When someone steals a shirt from the tray because they're cold, that's one thing. Selling pirated copies is different. A matter of principle. I personally invested at least 30 thousand euros in books on Altai and Mongolia. Expeditions, buying literature, visiting museums, buying materials. And if I return 10% of this amount by selling copyrighted copies - I think this is not surprising.
2. I also conduct additional advertising for the book by Yuri Chistyakov! I don't have the book, but I had contact with the author. The taxon he mentioned as new was described by me. I contacted Chityakov by phone and received such a friendly and warm response that I was very touched. I believe that this well-known entomologist should have made a very pleasant book. I am very glad to see such literature published in the Urals - Gorbunov, Olshvang. I am glad to have such an experience in Primorye. These are great trends!

Of course, all this does not apply to non-standard articles, for the availability of which I advocate.

And on the" scales " of the DV, you can lay out a couple of tables?(if any)
Well, the price, of course.

and what does Chikolovets have and where to read it?
One book is "Altai, Sayan, Tuva", the second is "Mongolia". There he is not alone, but with co-authors. I don't know where to read it. I think they will appear on sale, on the Internet.

Determinant of coleoptera of the Middle Volga region (part III. Polyphaga-Phytophaga). Ulyanovsk, 2007, 254 p. (in Russian) (Series "Nature
of the Ulyanovsk region", issue 14).
The book develops and presents definitive tables that can be used to identify 1,323 coleopteran species belonging to 11 families. The territory considered in the determinant covers the Chuvash Republic, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ulyanovsk and Samara regions of Russia. This is the first time such work has been performed in this region. Based on our own research and literature sources, we have compiled a complete list of Phytophages recorded here over the past 100 years. The guide includes tables for all species of the group discovered so far in the Middle Volga region, and represents the third part of the planned three-volume edition (the first one was published in 2002).
The keys are mainly based on external morphology features, which makes it easier to work with the book without compromising its scientific value. For most species, forage plants are indicated (for some - for the first time). The book is illustrated with more than 700 drawings (190 of them are author's), grouped into 141 tables.
The publication is intended for teachers of schools and Universities, students of biological specialties, specialists and Amateur entomologists, researchers, Museum curators, heads of circles stations of young naturalists, workers of agriculture and forestry. Fig. 745, cards 1, Bibl. 226.

If you don't mind, you really need one of the chapters listed in the access section: 3, 7, 12, 15, 19.
I think everyone would be interested in general chapters 14. 16. 17. 18. 24. As an African scholar, I'm 5.
Is it actually possible to get the whole book?

I received the atlas Beetles of Israel today. It's a lovely book. Many thanks to Yuri for such a book. I want such a book on beetles and butterflies to be published in every region of the Russian Federation, at least!
Yuri, I am very grateful to you and I firmly shake your hand for such a wonderful project!

21.12.2009 23:32, RippeR

Why for each region? 0_o doesn't make sense.. But if by family, then yes.. Although I, personally, would not make such huge pictures, I managed with real sizes for beetles from 1 cm and increased to 1 cm for everyone else ))
And so, the book is very good smile.gif

Although I, personally, would not make such huge pictures, I managed with real sizes for beetles from 1 cm and increased to 1 cm for everyone else ))

So what kind of 1x1 cm pictures would they be? On them, even with high-quality printing, you can't really see anything.
Images in ent. atlases should be enlarged.
And it is necessary to increase it not to 1 cm or any certain fixed size, but proportionally.

22.12.2009 12:11, RippeR

very large images are useless. This won't make the beetles any more distinguishable. The main thing is to display what they look like and make it clear. Clearly, that is proportional smile.gifto

22.12.2009 12:40, okoem

very large images are useless. This won't make the beetles any more distinguishable.

Why do you think that the fact that the features of the dotted line and other small details of the structure become distinguishable, the beetles will not become more distinguishable? confused.gif Yes, there are text keys for the definition. But if we want to show the appearance of the beetle, it is advisable (if possible) to show it qualitatively.
