Most of all in your message liked the fact that you can find males early in the morning at the railway stations near the lights.
Especially in Orekhovo and Losevo. I concluded that most likely they can be found in Vaskelovo, where I often visit!

Hello dear entomologists I really want to know if Aglia tau and Saturnia pavonia live in the Ivanovo region and if so in what time frame and in general is there anyone from the Ivanovo region

18.04.2009 18:16, Aaata

They live and are not rare. I know for sure, because in the Ivanovo region I had to catch. Now there should already be endromises, and in a week and a half to two weeks, depending on weather conditions, you can expect the beginning of summer pavonias and tau.

I write from the dacha, there is no smell of silkwing endromis, and in Ivanovskaya I think I will have to wait for another 10 days. Not a year, but a disaster. Judging by the weather forecasts for May, everything will fly at the same time-both March and April.

18.04.2009 18:54, El Cazador

Birch silkworms appear when the leaves open on the birch tree. The most years when the kidneys just popped out. Pavonia and tau actively fly at the beginning of flowering of bird cherry, black currant, and tulip ( all in rural areas), although pavonia starts earlier and tau finishes later. In general, this topic has already been discussed many times on the forum.

18.04.2009 18:55, Aaata

In non-flying weather, nothing flies. But you can search in the afternoon for low-growing shrubs, on the dried-up last year's "grass" - they wait out the bad weather there. In suitable weather in the evening and at night, they fly well into the light, sometimes en masse.

18.04.2009 19:01, Aaata

Endromisov caught earlier, i.e. when the birch buds were maximally swollen, even before the leaves began to bloom.

In the Moscow region, the sap flow of birch trees has not yet begun, what kind of leaf blooming there... weep.gif I don't say anything about Ivanovskaya at all, everything is later there.

Apparently, Endromis can occur only occasionally when there is still snow around, and thawing is noticeable only on the southern side of deforested hills, and on the corresponding side of the railway embankment. There was a recent post about this in a related topic.

Aha, and on the heating mains on which May beetles are already crawling, it will soon be possible to look for hawkmoth. smile.gif

Well, there's nothing you can do about it - you'll have to... smile.gif

Meteorologists say that by the evening of 26 the weather will reach 8 degrees at night how do you think it will fly

20.04.2009 13:27, Aaata

For early spring species, night +8 is quite suitable - it should fly. Waiting-from smile.gif

What else is flying now

20.04.2009 13:43, Aaata

Approximately what you have: early spring and wintering scoops, early moths (spring, for example, from flying during the day), crested birds should soon appear (siversi and others with spring summer), as well as "not far off", I hope, some of the scoops and cocoonworms.

But let me disagree with you about sap flow. In the south of the Moscow region, on April 12, I saw birch trees from which juice flowed very abundantly (by the way, there were quite a few butterflies on these birches).
My first and so far only experience of catching A. tau took place on May 1 last year, while I managed to catch a mating pair during the day and the female was still quite fresh.

Alas, we are still talking about +8 only in the daytime...

Well, you're in vain! On one local TV channel they give +2, on another (they are located in the same building) +6. So in total +8 and on my thermometer is the most accurate. lol.gif

20.04.2009 15:19, Илюха

By the way entomologists are there anyone from the Ivanovo region please respond

20.04.2009 16:29, Илюха

And in the Ivanovo region there are wine hawkmoth, death's head, podalirium, swallowtail, mnemosyne, apollo, polyxena 7

20.04.2009 16:35, Aaata

Everything, except for polyxena and, perhaps, death's head (but it is also theoretically possible to get knocked up) is found in you. And there are 2 types of wine hawks: small and medium in the Ivanovo region. are not rare.

20.04.2009 16:42, Aaata

Near the Lukh River in the very south of your region, I also met Podaliriya. And there may not be any near Shui.

podaliriy - In the Nizhny Novgorod region there is beyond the Volga, so you have
a swallowtail-100% there is an
apollo, mnemosyne-look for it, there should be
polyxena-unlikely

There are no special topics. Once a newbie has opened the topic, it means that he has opened it. Like this one. What swerig and noted.

How long have you been collecting insects

20.04.2009 18:14, Aaata

Long ago. From the age of 2. Now here is already an adult "uncle", and the interest is only getting bigger and bigger.

please tell me my bad news

20.04.2009 19:07, Aaata

Very good place to start. Most of the daytime ones also have a good spread. Well, you know, you need to have antennas; the risk of damage is less if they are along the leading edge of the front wings. Labels are now easier, and even more beautiful, if you make them on a computer and print them. At night, you have a lot to collect them (after all, there are many more nocturnal species than daytime butterflies) - read the topic "Features of fishing in the light". You don't collect beetles?
